Schwarzenegger grabs hands of female reporter in his big baboon hands
Edited on Fri Oct-26-07 01:13 AM by Liberal_in_LA

The rightwing websites and blogs are cheering on Arnold for grabbing shipman's hands while making a point. What he did would piss me off... Grabbing the other person's hands is a tactic to dominate the other person.

http://thepopulistblog.com/2007/10/25/arnold-grabs-abcs-shipman-demands-stop-spinning-fire-coverage/

SHIPMAN: Well, you’re saying everybody’s working together, but you have heard there have been some complaints from officials. For example, in Orange County who say, ‘If we’d only had more resources earlier, more planes, more firefighting resources, we might have been able to head off the fires ravaging Orange County right now.’

SCHWARZENEGGER: Anyone that is complaining about the planes just wants to complain because it’s a bunch of nonsense. The fact is that we have all the planes in the world here. We have 90 aircraft here and they can’t fly because of the wind situation.

SHIPMAN: At one point, he even employed a heavy weight grip to make his case. The point he was making, you have to be ready to fly –

**Schwarzenegger grips Shipman’s arm and starts vigorously shaking it.**

SCHWARZENEGGER: Trust me when I tell you, you’re looking for a mistake and you won’t find it because it’s all good news, as much as you maybe hate it, but it’s good news. Trust me, okay?

You can see the video and read the transcript of the hand grabbing incident at the website above.

3. using the phrase "trust me" is usually an indication that they can't be trusted.
like "honestly" and "i swear". these are used to lull a person into falsely believing the person is being sincere and truthful.

10. What a creep. And he's lying....
The basis for the initial attack helicopters is to get there when the fire is still small enough that you can contain it," Eversole said. "If you don't get there in time, you quickly run the risk of these fires getting out of control." The first of the 15 or so fires started around midnight Saturday. By Sunday afternoon, fires were raging in Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange counties.

At the request of firefighters on the ground, at 4 p.m. Sunday the state Office of Emergency Services asked the National Guard to supply four helicopters. Under state rules, a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection "spotter" must accompany each military and National Guard helicopter to coordinate water drops.

The spotters have 24 hours to report for duty, and it took nearly all that time for them and the National Guard crews to assemble. By the time they were ready to go, the winds had made it unsafe to fly.

    http://www.usatoday.com/weather/wildfires/2007-10-25-wildfires-grounded-side_N.htm

- No Arnie, the reason they didn't fly wasn't because of the wind, it was because Republicans are all wind. And nothing else. Except when they're bombing or torturing someone. That, you're good at. You had since 2003 to get this right and you blew it. And just like The Windshield Cowboy, is all "Hat & No Cattle," I suppose that would now make you, "All Bun & No Schnitzel."

And the fires are still burning......

16. She was on the air one night and I could have sworn she had a black eye that she did a very poor job
of covering up. I think it was on one of her Dateline shows(?) Don't know if Ahhhhnold did it, but I wouldn't put it past him. He was the first person I thought of.

20. I would have said, "Please do not touch me, Governor!"
I saw that interplay. She was far too compliant. I would have then just stared at the way he held her wrist with a VERY cold look on my face.

She tried to ignore the fact that she was being manhandled. Altho I felt for her, because obviously she didn't expect to be molested in the interview, there comes a point where women have to stand up against these animals and call them on it. Yes, on national TV!

23. Journalistic integrity?
After watching the video and reading the link in the original post I found this phrase very interesting... "But it does seem to me, that the Liberal Media is trying to find fault with the Government in California."
Personally, I don't feel Gov. Terminator crossed any major line. Look at it this way... if a child doesn't understand what your saying and you've been trying over and over again to explain it, sometimes its necessary to take them by the hand so they get the point. I think the reporter was trying throw a negative spin on the situation given her line of questioning. True, technically speaking, she's not a child, but then again putting a slant on your line of questioning is a bit childish and not conducive to journalistic integrity. What would Mr. Murrow have to say?
