10. Well, he just might be leaving the state, so that might be interesting.
It's a dream, that rumor. Or more appropriately, a nightmare!
FWIW, that's a "draft Schilling" movement by a bunch of wingnuts. Desperate wingnuts. Schilling isn't involved in it at all.

Kerry's already got a few competitors--serial losers, most of them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_Massachusetts,_2008

Schilling's family has not put deep roots down here. They've treated this gig like an extended holiday, really, though they're surprised and grateful that the franchise really did go to bat for them and publicize all their charities. And this year, he's a free agent, and he might want more than they're willing to pay him. We'll see: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21482831/

45. In reading the Rockies MLB board their complaint is quite different
Apparently they have had very few fans show up at the games all year

until they went on a tear at the end of the season

Kind of like the Devil Rays. Only a few thousand show up, unless the Red Sox or Yankees were in town

So now the poor faithful few can't get WS tickets. That's the way the cookie crumbles,eh?

13. Unbelievable. The Sox are Democrats, the Rockies are Republicans
This shit is just too damn stupid. Let me tell you, no one has been more outspoken about his ultra right wing beliefs than Schilling, a Red Sox. But who cares? Making sports teams as political entities is just plain silly.

All of this shit that keeps coming from Sox fans makes me want to pull for the Rockies. I was completely neutral, but the sheer arrogance and statements such as these make me ill.

It's pissing me off, and it only makes me want to root for the Rockies more. I swear that a Sox fan planted that story about Paul Byrd taking HGH (look at how well timed that story was), and then I bet some Sox fan planted that story about the Rockies hiring only Christian conservatives. Talk about foul play.

I've seen two Red Sox mercy killings, er, victories at Angel Stadium and their arrogant jackass fans treat me and my fellow Angels fans like shit. So yeah, I have no sympathy toward Boston.

Although I would love to see an Angels - Mets WS. Maybe that will happen next year.

42. It certainly will, if FOX has its way...
In this case, I'd have to agree with the evil television networks. They'd serve up alternating years of Mets-Angels and Yankees-Dodgers, interrupted in the middle year by a Cubs miracle run culminating with a Game 7 win over Boston.

(Didn't Tigers-StL proof that baseball isn't fixed? Well, I also enjoyed that, as one of 9,001 viewers...)

unless Lisa Williams is a Sox fan :-) , there is no way anyone at that time could have predicted the Sox would be steamrolling playing against Colorado in the Series the following fall.

Exactly what do you want? All I'm getting from "Red Sox nation" is "the Rockies can only be born-again Christians" and insinuations that anyone pulling against the Sox are Republican lovers.

Hey, you want others to root for your team, then try some humility, because I'm telling you, those of us sitting on the fence with this series are getting sick of stuff like this. With humility, maybe you can get more on your side.

I was thrilled when he pitched for us in 2004 and will be thrilled again if he helps the Sox take it all in 2007!

And I'll be even more thrilled if he runs against Kerry and gets his ass handed to him. Kerry will beat him more badly than the Sox beat the Rox in the first game of the Series.

Shut up and pitch, Curt.

25. Massively Favored Red Sox Trampling Republican Underdogs

The Democratic leanings of the Red Sox Juggernaut are clear: they treat their workers better, with massive salaries rivaling only the buttoned-down investment bankerish suits of the capitalist neo-con Yankee scum.

The Rockies payroll, just more than a third of the Red Sox, is evidence of their low Republican wages!

Rooting for the massively favored Red Sox is akin to standing up for the working class little guy against Republican bigwigs! Hoo-aaah!

44. You know, Big Stein, A-Rod and Giambi give plenty of cash to the Republicans
yet nobody has to bring that up about them. Why are the Rockies getting this politically-motivated treatment? Could it be that for some people Republicans only exist in flyover country and conservativism could never sully their beautiful eastern seaboard? Nah... that couldn't be the reason the numerous players and owners on other teams who are fundies and/or give money to the Republicans get a pass :sarcasm:

49. Whatever. I still dislike the Red Sox
As well as the Yankees and Mets. See, the east coast biased sports media is constantly cramming these teams down our throats and it makes this Midwesterner mad. I watch sports because I derive enjoyment from it and sports is not politics, just as politics is not sport. The Cardinals won last year and the White Sox won the year before. I believe these are both Midwestern teams. Besides, my balnkity blankin' Cubs got swept away, so it doesn't really matter.

But when it comes down to local teams, prior loyalty takes precedence. I couldn't root for Penn State football if I applied this reasoning to them, since Joe Paterno is a known Republican.
