For the Serious Considerers of Hillary/Bill Co-Presidency..Matthews show is a Much Watch on Replay..
It's a very interesting show with Sally Smith whose written the book about Hillary...and there's alot that's covered with new insights from her book. Chris asked some probing questions and got some interesting answers.

If Hillary is inevitable...then those of us who support her and those who aren't sure and those who don't support her will find the show an interesting discussion for it's nuances and points we maybe haven't really thought about if Hillary is the nominee.

It's interesting no matter if she's your candidate...in between...or you wouldn't vote for her if she was the last candidate on the ballot.

Tune it in...for Hard Core DU THINKERS...who look for info and can process and are still gathering before they vote in their Primaries.

Catch it from the beginning and try to get through the whole show. It also includes Roger Simon whose thinking Hillary might be better than the alternatives

(Just so folks know this isn't a Hillary bashing thing Matthews is doing tonight and Hard Core Hillary Supporters might think that's why I'm posting, I hope folks will watch).

7. It's about the "Nuances of Secrecy" ...we have it with this P-Residency
and what about the relationship between Hill/Bill...and how they deal with each other.

He manages to throw in little insults whenever possible. I put it on mute.

8. Why does it bother you if folks watch and find it interesting? Isn't this what our Politics is
about...when folks, after BUSH II are desperately trying to find a better alternative and one who will hold Bush/Cheney Accountable? I don't get why you immediately assume a BASH...when I put so many caveats in my post.

4. We clearly see this show very differently
I'm not aware of you being a HRC friend or foe ..... and I'm not, either. I find it interesting how differently we both see the very same program and the very same time. No doubt there's a lesson here. I saw it as Matthews venting and spewing in his pathological obsession with the Clintons (I think he pretty much hates them).

My thread on this, contemporaneous to yours, is here: Chris Matthews - a rabid dog with a bone in his muzzle wrt the Clintons

I'm not arguing the details one way or another .... just observing how two intelligent people can see the same thing and come away with diametrically opposing views.

5. That's pretty much how I saw it. Tweety seemed to be off his medication today.
That's why I asked the OP what she found so compelling. No response yet.

10. I can't stand Matthews...and anyone who is here regularly knows that
but I'm compulsive about Political Junkie news. Our Next President is IMPORTANT TO SO MANY HERE...that I try to keep up with the media even though I can take small doses. But, when something is intriguing like this...I post it.

Hey...I'm a DU'er, too...

6. What You SAY is exactly why I hope folks here on DU will tape/Tivo or watch
Edited on Fri Oct-26-07 05:01 PM by KoKo01
because it raises interesting questions that all of us could come down on one side or the other about.

Seeing Isikoff (of Monica Blue Dress/Newsweak fame) COMPLAIN that Bill hasn't allowed access to Personal Correspondence between Hillary and Bill) to be accessed by FOIA Requests...when Chimpy won't allow a whisper of his "Poppy's Presidential Library to be released...is priceless! The Whore Isikoff standing up for FOIA and not mentioning what Chimp has done to deny ACCESS is the ULTIMATE IN SECRECY! That's why the whole show is very interesting....

9. Points well taken, indeed
I guess I just don't see much of this as news. Or maybe my perspective is skewed by the overbearing, overwhelming nuttiness that is Matthews gigantic, spittle flecked ego.

Again, not arguing with you at all.

12. It's overwhelming ...and many have long ago cut out M&M...but
I'm one of those who comes from an "old school media" world and so I keep at it in "small doses" ...what I can tolerate before I "tear hair out of my head" because some things are worth watching and much isn't.

But...it's up to YOU to decide...I just have to post about it because it's my issue...THE MEDIA...and the whoredom it's become...and when a few things peak up...it's worth posting about.

14. BTW....it's Matthews's probing at the ends of segments that are worth watch if you are Junkie....
Edited on Fri Oct-26-07 05:41 PM by KoKo01
because he seems torn over whether he should chase Hillary's Skirts and get Bill's Crotch and go into ectasy like he did over Chimp's P-Residential Belt Buckle and the "Musky Smell of Thompson's English Leather.

It's always important (if one can tolerate the spin and stuff to get a couple of gold nuggets) to check out the M$M for the DU'ers who can deal with it.... many can't but they rely on us to report it.

Chrissy did some good tonight...because his ratings are up against Olbermann.

27. H2S, I just watched on replay and have to agree with you...
While the author seemed somewhat restrained (refusing to answer Tweety's questions re: whether she would vote for HRC or who did she prefer, HRC or WJC) she still seemed determined to paint them in the most unflattering light as possible over what to me are clearly trifling issues. To jump on them for some papers not yet released, when GWB has blocked everything back to Raygun, is ludicrous... Of course that little inconvenient fact was not mentioned.

17. husband2sparkly, I usually agree with you...but in this case
I have to disagree. I lived through the Clinton years with the bombardment of lies and twists and distortions and "insights" via books authored by bought-and-paid-for-neo-cons. Yes, there was a vast right-wing conspiracy. It pains me to see that some on this board have chosen to "sleep with the enemy" because the enemy is saying what they want to hear.

This is not democracy. This is detrimental to democracy when we cannot even trace the beginning of the lies, they are repeated as if truth, distortion and all, by people with agendas until they become "truth."

21. No one is sleeping with the enemy here
Not you and not me.

Watching teevee newz is not tantamount to agreeing with them. I was (I admit) knee-jerking about the sanctimony of those who sniff at us to 'just turn it off' as if that will somehow change it. If that's not you, then please accept my apologies (no snark intended here at all). Often what gets interpreted in reading flat posts on a computer message board is not what was intended by the writer and I may well have mistaken your position.

22. My point is that regurgitating the lies and spreading them
knowing they come from hate, knowing they come from one with an agenda that is detrimental to our party, our democracy, but yet willing to jump on the lies-band-wagon because those lies might help your candidate--that is sleeping with the enemy.

23. Then we agree completely
My anger today is with Tweety and how he's handling this whole Clinton thing. I know that it is hard for some to separate that from candidate-centric partisanship, but her candidacy is immaterial. he's just plain over the top about it. His guests (except for the equally fucked up and marginalized Isikoff) have interesting things to say ...... if you can hear them over Tweety massive bloviational hate spew.

I'm NOT a Hillary supporter, but this was an awful interview by an obsessed, half-insane Matthews.

25. get used to it...you ain't seen nothin' yet.....etc, etc......I watched for a minute or two, and
that's all I could take

CM: wasn't eight years of a sitcom ENOUGH?
stuff like that, referring to the Clinton years, as if it were Hillary's fault, and that her presidency would be more of the same

trouble is, he's right about that, but not for the reasons he'd be honest enough to mention, i.e. the VRWC, as so aptly cited/conveniently ignored in books like Fools For Scandal and The Hunting of the President

Roger Simon and that horrid, smirking virago Sally Smith are worse than the wingnut pundits, because of their pretense to objectivity.

and Matthews is clearly delusional when it comes to either clinton

that was 'journalism' at its very worst, interesting only as an exercise in proving once again the hoary myth of the liberal media, or in knowing thine enemy

I can't stand the son of a bitch more than a few seconds at a time, so I watch him spew and turn the TV off and switch channels. I got think that someone in the Clinton camp really shit on tweety's ego. He must have gotten shitcanned off the next debate.
