Standard Disclaimer #1: I will admit that Gore will not run for POTUS in 2008 when he either (1.) states that he will not seek, nor will he accept his party's nomination for POTUS in 2008, or (2.) when the Democratic National Convention is over and he has not won the nomination.

Standard Disclaimer #2: I deeply appreciate everything Al has done regarding the climate crisis and the restoration of democracy in the U.S. Whatever he decides to do next is fine with me. I believe that his decision will be based on what he believes is best for the nation and the world and I will respect that decision. I do not believe that letting him know that we want him to run is disrespectful in anyway - I will work for him whether he runs or not - having signed the LiveEarth pledge this summer I already am.

Standard Disclaimer #3: Is it at all realistic to think that Gore could enter the race and win at this point? Yes. He could ignore New Hampshire and Iowa (and any states that hold primaries before that date) -- and toss his hat in the ring in time to participate in the February primaries which include the big states like California. See Could Gore Be a Contender? Also see the answer to that question - CBS News Poll - Gore emerges as a serious contender.

Meanwhile, the petition at Draft Gore is nearing 220,000 signatures... Sign It!

And over at the DFA pulse poll - Al has 27% of 92,330+ votes cast - Cast a write in vote for Al!

On edit: Links to DraftGore petition and DFA poll.

180 degrees from having to look at bushit fakin' his monkey smirk.

While I don't see Al Gore in real life(except for the one slide show presentation at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York..I see him in my dreams and he's the sweetest thing. B-)

11. I saw him walk into a room, a few weeks ago
Edited on Fri Oct-26-07 06:49 PM by Lisa
What I remember especially is the way his face lit up when he saw hundreds of students sitting there. (I was near the front ... none of us were expecting to see him in person that day.) He just seemed SO darned happy to be talking about the environment, and what we can do to improve things.

And ever since then, I've gone in to work thinking, "wow -- Al Gore is after my job!".

Oh -- and he did a pretty decent standup comedy routine at the start of his talk, as well.

(I filed a report on the event, in my DU journal.)

16. Thanks, Lisa, I'll read it~
I really do dream about Gore and it's always a surprise to see him and I'm like ecstatic and go up to shake his hand and then we talk..I've dreamt it twice now and it always has an Ocean in the backdrop. B-)

Thanks for telling me about your invaluble, real life experience with Gore.

When I saw the slide show in New York, with my sister, the auditorium was jammed and, of course, we were all full of energy and gave him loud, exuberant applause continuously thoughout the 2 1/2 hours. We didn't get to meet or see him afterwards as I was hoping but the euphoria lasted quite awhile.

I think it has to do with following his actions from the 2000 coup, that ousted him from his rightful place as our 43rd President, until 2007..the Emotions just flow!

You, too? :)

10. Speaking of that...
There for a while the DFA poll results had two charts - the second one showed the poll results "if Gore doesn't run". That one isn't there anymore. Hmm....

I know, it probably means nothing and most likely there was some other reason, but they did send out that email saying they were going to ask him about it. And I like to play around with the concept of hope sometimes - I could especially use it after listening to some Iran war drums lately.

36. Your right, I don't know what Gore wants, I can guess by his actions that....
he would like to have America regain it's position in the world, as a country that respects human rights, and is a true democracy, lead by the representatives of the people. BUT, and this is a big BUTT, he's been there, he knows how the game is played. We The People, aren't in charge anymore. We know Bush stole both of his elections. We know that they will kill people that get in their way. We know that they will kill millions to make money from oil. We know that the US economy is teetering on the edge of collapse. We know this and you want to tell me that Mr. Gore wants to stick his neck into that noose. Right. If he does then he ain't that bright.

37. So far I think I am following what you are saying, though I do disagree...
We the people let Bush steal both elections.

We the people have to find our way out of the many holes in which we find ourselves - including corporate power, teetering economy, and ecological collapse.

I believe that politics attracts both the best and the worst among our population and I won't paint politicians with a broad brush stroke - generous, selfish, bright, dumb - they aren't all the same. Politicians may in fact be one of the most bimodal distributions of personality types the world -- some saints and some sinners.

The fact that some sinners have occupied the Oval Office does not make it a gutter or a noose.

I believe Al is brilliant and I believe he may run. If he does, his success will depend on us. We The People - have always had the power and no one can take it away. The only reason *they* have any power at all is because we give it to them. We could take it back tomorrow if enough minds and hearts were aware of what is really happening now and truly believed that we do have the power.

money once you get OUT of politics with a good name. You can usually get things done faster too sadly - Washington moves slowly...So I think since he knows the game he won't run because he can deal with Washington with MONEY and SUPPORT. He lobbies very well. He works minor miracles around the world doing his slideshow alone!

I adore Gore! I am a member of the site that photo came from!
