Good grief. We pretty much take everything with a pillar of salt out here --- but, but, our papers are tanking and our local stations are treading water, changing formats every week.

Clearly, there is a huge disconnect that local markets feel sooner but national markets seem to be slower to recognize. I don't have a source any more for the numbers but, I wouldn't bet the farm on any media outlet at this point.

In fact, imho, what we need to do is to support our local indies. Hard as we can and in any way we can. Because the media in this country right now reminds me of the two teevee channels that I watched in El Salvador in '68. Canned, disposable, laughable.

If our media weren't in such bad shape, Steven Colbert wouldn't be possible.
