Marine Fights To Get Out Of Deployment To Iraq
Saturday, October 27, 2007 6:03:21 AM

A Marine reservist from Central Florida has been trying to get out of being deployed to Iraq, saying he enlisted for the wrong reasons and no longer believes in war.

On Dec. 3, Marine reservist Matt Mishler is set to deploy to Iraq for nine months, but he has been fighting to get out of it.

"After seeing what war really brings -- innocent women and children that are killed along the way -- I don't think it's ever worth it," Mishler said. snip

Mishler admits he was naive when he signed a six-year contract four years ago.

Looking back, he says he would not have enlisted for reasons like college money and military heroics.

"It seems ... really immoral ... doing some of the things that we're asked to do in the military, and I just don't agree with them anymore," Mishler said.

2. My granson has the same feelings
AF and 6 yr contract. he is due to be out in one more year, and is anxious to leave. He is in Afganistan. He firmly believes we are just wasting our money and time there as well as Iraq, served 2 tours there. He always wanted a military career, but he now sees things a lot differently, he grew up fast.
