The Note identified as "Must-Read" week-old American Spectator column advancing rumor The Note itself has advanced

On October 26, ABC's political newsletter The Note included in its daily list of "Must-Reads" a column by American Spectator founder and editor-in-chief R. Emmett Tyrrell Jr. -- originally published by the Spectator on October 18 and reprinted by The New York Sun on October 26 -- that, as Media Matters for America previously documented, advanced an anonymously sourced allegation that Hillary Rodham Clinton eavesdropped on a phone conversation involving Bill Clinton's political opponents during his 1992 presidential campaign. Sen. Clinton's (D-NY) presidential campaign has said the allegation is "categorically untrue."

1. I don't get it - so WTF if she did?
It was fucking 15 years ago and if she eavesdropped on a phone conversation what difference would it possibly have made. If this is the best they can come up with they might as well call off the election right now and just appoint her president.

I'm really kinda disappointed in the slime merchants. Surely they must be capable of more.

2. Does the article say how she eavesdropped?
Did Hillary have her own private wiretapping system back then?

Or did she simply get the access code to dial in on a phone conference?

3. The content here is irrelevant.
The point (if I may speak for the OP) is that this is a clear example of how the Bullshit Media System uses the Daisy Chain Maneuver to manufacture 'newz'. The fabricators cite each other as sources. The crap is then spun through several rinse cycles until it becomes newz.

5. You left out a step
The one where some DUers post it here. :-)

Yep, it's the process that's important. The details could have been about how Hillary is having an affair with a space alien (it's been done). It doesnt matter. It's all the same bullshit

4. Someone who loathes their own first name so much they go by R. Emmett...
From what I've read of his whil he briefly had a gig with CNN.COM, he is a self hating, dimwit neocon. Talentless hack, he makes Ann Coulter look like a genius.
