Chicago anti-war march/rally. Anyone else reporting in? (pic heavy)
There wasn't a huge turn-out in Chicago. The organizers guessed about 10,000. I still feel compelled to get out there and take this physical action to protest but it's getting to the point that I have to admit, our physical presence is pretty underwhelming. I won't give up, I promise but imho the "statement" being made isn't very persuasive when there are so few of us....

Anyway, some pics from downtown today....

4. I saw the announcement on the Dan Ryan today!
I was leaving my sister's place with my parents and daughter. I saw it on the traffic boards - "Rally on Jackson". I thought as I read it, "I wonder how many DUers are there?" I knew there would be some!

If I wasn't driving back from a family get-together I would have loved to have been there. Thanks for the pics!

6. I was sitting in Cafe Bombon on Ashland ...
and we saw everyone go by. (we were the ones waving at you). Good work.

Yes, it was fairly small ... especially when one remembers the immigration march last year with 500,000 people. The anti-war rally took about 15 minutes to pass us by ... that rally took almost 4 hours for marchers to pass.

One of two conclusions:

(a) the left is not organized: we should take a cue from the immigrant community
(b) people have given up on anything having an effect: there are few people left to convince that the war needs to end, and no one will ever convince this administration to end it.

I think both conclusions are probably valid.

Best rally gear we saw: a beautiful young girl came into the cafe and on her bag were many buttons, including "End the War Now" and "I Support Female Orgasm." Mr. Frazzle's comment: "Now there's some causes I can get behind!"
