.... this is the only way Gore can end up being the Democratic Party Nominee now, given the circumstances he now would face to try and enter the race in a conventional manner.
I prefer Edwards, but like Gore a lot also. I wish Gore had gotten in a lot sooner and we might be watching a four way race to the finish. As it is I think Edwards and Obama are hurting each other, and Hillary is benefitting.
Even so, the race is a long way from being over. Edwards has been holding back running tv ads, and the last 60 days before the primaries is going to see momentum on behalf of Edwards --hopefully to crest at the Iowa caucus.
But to address your comment --I think Gore unofficially opted out a long time ago. He is doing exactly what he wants to do right now, and let's face it politics is a rough and tumble lifestyle that I don't think Gore wants to revisit.
