Ed Schultz is a pinhead...
He's trashing Edwards' stand on hunting and gun-owning because Edwards "only" talked about preserving the environment so that future generations of hunters can enjoy them. Eddie's panties are in a knot because he's not more stridently pro-gun in his argument.

I try to cut the guy some slack because I agree with him in principal most of the time. But his personality is a little hard to take.

1. Ed does come across as a big blow hard sometimes.
Actually, the first time I saw him on TV, I assumed he was a Republican, except he does shut up and lets the other person talk from time to time, which most real Republicans won't do.

Of course, what he was saying at the time actually made sense, so I knew he wasn't a Republican. :)

5. At the risk of sounding shallow...
His voice and speech patterns are really (REALLY) similar to Rush Limbaugh's. Maybe that's part of my problem -- no matter what he says, he sounds like a right winger.

He's no Thom Hartmann!

8. He does have intonations like Rush

but I look at the positive side...maybe his presentation style will attract some right-wing listeners to get another point of view. Just a thought.

9. I agree. One of the reasons I cut him some slack...
Is that no everybody's style is appealing to everybody else. I love Randi Rhodes and I know some people really can't take her. But if the message gets out, we're all the better for it.

I just have to be sure that I change channels before Ed's show comes on.

20. I remember reading a while back that his
"Limbaugh like" sound is an act; that isn't what he really sounds like. Personally, it turns me off.

2. That is because he is really a RW hack. His wife convinced him there was more money to our side of
the dial.

4. Not that I agree with Schultz 100% of the time, but...
that argument is silly. If there's more money on the left side, why is Air America always a thread away from going out of business, while Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Neil Boortz and so on are living high on the hog?

For every left wing station that broadcasts shows from Ed Schultz, Randi Rhodes or Mike Malloy, there's at least five right wing radio stations broadcasting wingnut propaganda.

6. I hadn't read that before...can you point me to a source on that?
Big Eddie generally tries to appeal to "sportsmen" with his folksy crap on fishing, sounds a lot like more of the same.

I'd have thought of nothing more malevolent than his expressing what often seem to me to be left-leaning libertarian views. I never knew about a republican connection.

10. He is no right wing hack. That is absurd!
I listen to him all the time. He's on our side.

He's to the right of me, but most people are.

He's been pushing for impeachment for some time.

14. talk radio hosts are always an acquired flavor
Personally, I always found Al Franken to be a megalomaniacal, unfunny bore. But he seems to have a lot of support on DU. Randi Rhodes I like, but she's regularly trashed on DU. Go figure.

17. I likedFranken...
but I know a lot of people didn't care for him.

Unlike the dittoheads, who will consume any slop that's put out there, we need to have a variety of progressive radio voices to match a variety of tastes.
