O'Really: Colbert mocking country, lacks cojones to face him
Bill O'Reilly, in an article full of windbaggery:

O'Reilly also dismissed the candidacy of Stephen Colbert, host of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" and frequent O'Reilly foil.
"This is a publicity stunt to mock the country," he said.
O'Reilly said that Colbert announced he was running for president to get publicity for his new book, "I Am America (And So Can You!)." But he said Colbert refused an invitation to promote the book on "The O'Reilly Factor."
"Colbert doesn't have the cojones to face me," O'Reilly said. "He knows the book is dumb, so he's not going to come in. Instead, he runs for president."

I think Colbert would make mincemeat of him. We should petition Comedy Central to ask that Colbert accept the invitation.

1. It takes special courage to face Billo in any case
Not many people are willing to risk death by the dreaded "falafel breath".

2. He already did
BillHO went on Colbert a few months ago and it was hilarious. Almost like watching Fred Thompson trying to swat a yellow jacket with a pitcher of Kool-Aid. Never had a clue. :silly:

8. Bilo is just desperate for better ratings.
Most people, except the RWing cult don't tune in to his BS show.

14. ding ding ding we have a winner!
Yes, O'Liely is riding Colbert's coattails like a barnacle on a ship. Colbert should just shoo that fly away and not take the bait. O'Liely is pathetic.

18. I've noted his show becoming more like a tabloid piece.
If FOX is so much better than everyone else, how come they have to spend the same amount of time on the same lurid topics AS everyone else? If they're better, they don't need to stoop to get ratings. Anyone can show the latest of Ms Hilton or Ms Spears' tawdry lives. Isn't showing something different the impetus for getting peoples' attention? Not everybody can become successful for talking about trash all day long.

At times he makes good points, but then come the "Miller Time" segments (the name reminds us of beer, of course) and the bit where he's digging up an old figure in American entertainment history and applauding the person seems far more like "Hard Copy" than it does actual news, forgive me. Entertaining, yes, but something about it all doesn't seem like investigative journalism. Again, it depends on the topic; if he was consistent with shallow articles, I'd be thinking far less of him.

I will say this; a few weeks ago when he had Ben Stein on...

I do like the person who looks at peoples' gestures and guesses if they're right or not. She's hot too, but that's another discussion...

33. And all Colbert has to do is trot out Billo's microwave to remind him
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 07:08 AM by Az
For those that forgot. While doing the Billo show Colbert and crew stole the microwave from Billo's lounge.

24. Actually, if Colbert went on Billo's show - and stayed in character
O'Reilly's regular viewers would be so impressed with him that Colbert would probably win the Republican primary in South Carolina.

12. When the "opponent"
has editorial control and a track record of cutting off anyone who bests him - there is no debate.

O'Reilly is just a chickenhawk bullshit artist, let him get on with it in his ever diminishing corner of TV land, he only makes sense to his core audience anyway, and most of them are just pissed off at the rest of humanity, because the rest of humanity has thumbs.

He provides the rest of us with amusement, and sometimes utter disbelief at his outbursts, but going on his show is no more that feeding time at the zoo, mildly amusing but mostly just messy.

16. No no no. Ignore BillO. He is trying to build ratings on Colbert's coattails.
Stephen should ignore BillO from here on out until forever. He has passed the nutcase by, and BillO gets worse by the day. Time to cut off any and all contact with or mention of O'Lielly. He is going to implode any day now, and Stephen needs to stay away from him.

I think that the giant inflated head's faux outrage is just a publicity stunt.

26. So, let me get this straight
According to Oh, Really? when you write a book, your choices are:

a) Appear on BillO's dumb show
b) Run for president

Who knew? Pay attention, all authors, and potential writers!

"He knows the book is dumb, so he's not going to come in. Instead, he runs for president."

30. Sorry BillO, You've Been Skunked Again
Damn right Colbert's "candidacy" is a PR stunt to sell his book. How about BillO's unabashed self-promotion of his crap...what's good for the goose, ya know. But what chaffes BillO's butt is that Colbert will sell far more than anything he ever put out and that he knows his fame is based on being the "anti-BillO". For a vainglorious shithead, this has to eat at him constantly.

Faux has reached it's zenith. It no longer fools people and those who tune in either also live in that altnernate universe or need a good laugh. It has almost no credibility and the noise it makes now is openly mocked. Why should Colbert go on that cesspool of a network? Other than for comic relief, there's nothing to gain. He's already had his fun with "Papa Bear".
