I want to kick this 3 yr. online 'friends' ass!
I guess I could just block her silly e-mails from even reaching me.
But it's just so ... interesting!?!

:wtf:

She already knows how I feel about this kind of crapola but she persists!! lmao!
Maybe I just have a hope that she'll return to her NY Democratic roots??
She now lives in the "DEEP South", if you get my drift....

I guess because she sent her 18 yr. old son off "to Iraq to save the world"...HER WORDS...not mine...

that I haven't been able to stop watching the train wreck and I do sympathize...with her duped son!

Gawd!! Ok... here we go....mind you all of this is in huge lettering and in green colors.

I'll bet this was a surprise to NBC.
NBC POLL

Do you believe in God?

( She attached a pic of a very young and hot Jesus figure! ;) )

NBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest
Number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the
Percentage was the same as this:

86% to keep the words, IN God We Trust and God in the Pledge of Allegiance
14% against.

That is a pretty 'commanding' public response.

I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't.

Now it is your turn .. It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God.
Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such
A mess about having "In God We Trust" on our money and having
God in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Why is the world catering to this 14%?

AMEN!

If you agree, pass this on, if not, simply delete.

In God We Trust

Question: Should I torture her with endless questions???

1. Is there really much of a movement to change the money?
It's lame that we have some sort of crappy prayer to a mythical father figure on our money, but do many people actually care?

Seems like a waste of energy to be honest.

2. That poll is a crock.
Ask for a link to it. That e-mail has been circulating for years, I get it (and delete it) every few months. ALWAYS the same percentages! But ask her for a link to verify the poll. She won't be able to. End of story. No need to get violent over a simpleton's blind allegiance to stupidity.

10. You are correct, sir!!
Everything was underlined but I didn't bother to see if they were links.

They aren't!!

You are astute!! I'm just goofy and half asleep. ;)

She really does irk me. Why do I let her continue though?

Maybe because she's a Mom of a kid in Iraq?

Maybe that's what is still bugging me... I don't know.

12. Hit 'Reply All' too: How to get even
I used to have an aunt who sent me stuff like that. I don't think she even realized what she was sending. I started looking up the E-mails in Snopes. Anytime I got an E-mail that was debunked by Snopes, I would hit reply all and say, "Looks like another E-mail debunked by Snopes.com". It makes the E-mail sender think twice about sending out E-mails and it makes the recievers more sketpical of the stuff out there. My aunt stopped sending out stuff really quick. My other relatives said they stopped getting forwards from her too, it wasn't just that she kicked me off her list.

20. Thanks for the "edjumacatcion!" lol
Seriously! I think that's the best idea of all.

I really don't want to get confrontational (sp?) with her. I just want her to stop the BS!!
I got her to stop once before, concerning b* and the Iraq invasion.
And she actually started sounding normal but seems like she's going off the deep end again.

Time to send her some 'librul' love! ;) Get her back in line!

Maybe she's inundated with this shit all the time? I suspect so.

Maybe that's why she continues to send me things? She knows she's in need of help?
A lot of what she sends is funny and cute, to a point, but this kind of stuff has to stop.

Most of the time I will ask the sender for a link but some I just ignore.

They need to supply the source of their info.

And do you want to lose the relationship?

I'm usually pretty emphatic about what stuff people CANNOT send me.

I honestly think God will be okay regardless. Same goes for the PofA. I don't think God's that worried about it, really.

14. Ask her
why 86 percent of the alleged responders feel such a need to have images and other reminders of their god all over the place if their trust and faith are so strong. Ask her why she apparently feels her faith would be tested if her money and the Pledge of Allegiance and so many other things didn't reinforce it for her.

19. (funny it's an "nbc" poll....haven't the pukes been going after nbc lately?) and...
you might want to reply:
"dear mary, i was outraged to hear that bush is trying to cut back on funding for the veterans administration again. can you believe it? these poor kids that need medical attention and prescriptions filled and therapy and bush wants to cut back on their funding. how is johnny doing? i pray every day for his safety. and even though i do believe in god doesn't mean that i believe in this war, or believe in bush to do the right thing."

http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/godpoll.asp

according to snoops (above link) the god poll was taken in march 2004 and it was done in conjunction of cnbc.

24. These chain emails have gotten common.
They are generally simple-minded, republican generated circle jerks meant to make normal people feel guilty for not jumping in on the gangbanging. Rather than respond singularly to your friend, I found that it was only fulfilling to me to "reply to all" since they are usually forwarded to many recipients. Then give a responsible, rational response to whatever nonsensical proposition that they are spraying around. My reasoning was that if they were going to preach to me in mass, then I would preach a good sermon in response to influence as many people as possible to common sense. After doing this several times, you will notice that your wingnut friend no longer annoys you with rightwing chain mail. This, without even hurting her feelings.

29. I've started sending little tidbits of news and political cartoons to my sis in law
Even though she never sends me anything I know she fowards a lot of stuff because my daughter gets lots of emails from her. Sis in law won't send me anything because she knows I'll debunk it in a flash.

Everything I send I make sure that I include links to original sources so she can check out the stories for herself. For instance, just yesterday I sent her the story about Bush claiming he's never been to Iraq and another story showing he's been there twice.

I almost never include any opinion of my own, just quotes from the stories and the links. I let the stories themselves tell the tale. I haven't heard back from sis in law but I suspect that she is passing at least some of the stuff I send on to her substantial email list.

I've been sending her selected cartoons from the political toons posts here on DU, many times a picture *is* worth a thousand words and makes the point far more emphatically than any number of words.

30. Ask why the only two words that are important in the pledge are "Under God"
instead of "And Justice for All"?

And then ask if she feels that having to put "God" on money is redundant, since they worship money ...

31. Ask Her Why We're In Iraq Then?
If what the people want is the determining factor, and 70% of the people want out of Iraq, then why are we still there, "saving the world"?

If she can't answer that, then the "words on the coin" poll means nothing.
