The "Special I.G. for Iraqi Reconstruction" just said Electricity is ABOVE Pre-War levels in Iraq!
That's the "Special Inspector General for Iraqi Reconstruction" and he just said (on NPR's "All Things Considered") that, "...Electricity is ABOVE Pre-War levels in Iraq..." but, of course, he offered no proof of that, so, has anyone else heard that "fact?"

Has anything credible been published, recently, that shows proof of that?

And what about the Power Grid? Maybe they ARE "generating" more power, but is it getting out to the people?

1. Sure, on the permanent bases that weren't there before the occupation started.

So, I guess you could say that in 7 places there is a 100% increase.

3. No. They are just saying that. In truth the articles today are talking
about how the power grids in Iraq are in trouble because they cannot get enough gas to run the generators. Due to the uproar in Iran and Turkey, refined gas supplies are just trickling in so the power plants sit idle.

This article is just part of the government propaganda program we pay so much to run.

4. Did he say "pre-war" or "pre-bombing"?
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 03:38 PM by IanDB1
Because if he said "pre-invasion," he'd probably be correct.

Because we bombed the fuck outa them for about a week before we invaded.

5. I'm pretty sure he said "Pre-War."
Yeah, he's not setting that bar very high, is he?

6. If he considers "pre-war" to mean "pre-invasion," then he could be weaseling instead of lying. n/t

Mosul Dam Repairs Were Botched, Inspector Says

Listen to this story...

All Things Considered, October 30, 2007 · Stuart Bowen, the Special Inspector General
for Iraq Reconstruction, reports Tuesday on 21 contracts totaling $27 million that the
government awarded to repair the Mosul Dam in northern Iraq.

The crumbling structure threatens to flood Iraq's two largest cities, and Bowen calls
grouting work on the dam unsatisfactory and U.S. oversight of the contracts weak.

He says the botched job stands in contrast to other contracts handled properly;
for example, electricity output in Iraq this quarter reached a postwar high.

Bowen talks with Robert Siegel.
