Former executive from Merrill Lynch walks away with $161.5 million
NEW YORK (AP) -- Merrill Lynch's departing chief executive, Stan O'Neal, will walk away with $161.5 million in stock, options and retirement benefits, the company said Tuesday.

Merrill Lynch & Co. (MER) is the target of a purported class action alleging the financial firm issued materially false and misleading statements regarding its financial results between Feb. 26 and Oct. 23.

The lawsuit alleges Merrill Lynch knew or disregarded that it was more exposed to collateralized debt obligations subprime debt than it disclosed.

2. He worked for five years at about $50 million per year....
Sucked at his job.....Gets canned and receives over $160 million. What the hell is wrong with these corporations? Why would a CEO even bother to be good at his/her job? All they have to do is hang on for a while and they are set for life. While the rest of us bust our asses and can't save a dime. Something stinks here in America.

3. This is another problem that, slowly but surely, destroys the US.
Isn't there a LAW that's supposed to "force" all corporations to disclose ALL their liabilities?

Alright, don't tell me: this "Stan O'Neal" is a Repuke, right? And he considers himself to be above the LAW, right? :puke:

I like your moniker a lot better than I like Stan O'Neal. I do appreciate that he's black, but so is Barry Bonds, and I don't like either one of them, for reasons unrelated.

But thanks for the memories. Sometimes, that's where the priorities lie.
