1. DU beats the networks frequently
DU beat the networks with a 12 hour lead on Reagan's death. DU beat the networks by about 3 days when Lamebawl's final marriage ended. DU beat the networks by MONTHS in outing the Niger documents as clumsy forgeries.

There have been many, many other instances.

3. I just hope a lot of parents of college students here aren't unnecessarily freaked out
Our kid was fine, I got hold of him in a minute after the quake as he and the rest of the school were walking outside. But now I can't reach him. I emailed the mom of a student from Connecticut to let her know about the quake and that all is fine. It rocked us a bit but nothing scary.

4. I have cousins in San Jose
near the epicenter. I imagine they'll be up all night, trying to clean up all the spilled crap in the kitchen.

8. One can fell in the grocery store my husband was in over here in Santa Cruz.
So I bet they will be cleaning tonight being so close to the epicenter. I just did three of the five disaster training classes. I found out in training that you don't necessarily turn off the gas. If there isn't a leak leave it on. I'll be finishing the CERT training in March.
