So has DU's "the media is helping Clinton" paranoia finally been put to sleep?
After tonight's debate, does anyone still have the nerve to claim the media is in Clinton's corner?

5. well yes actually
one of the guys in the post MSNBC coverage did say that hillary handled it extremely well. i almost broke a rib laughing at that. but i dont think will see the full extent of it until say tomorrow when it will simply be forced out of the way. except for the odd joke about DK's UFO's which in my opinion proves his worth as a candidate even more so.

12. They play with the hand they're dealt
the pre-show coverage I saw was a smarmy exchange between Olberman and Tweety about the desperate Obama's need to throw a knockout punch tonight and his unwillingness to take her on directly. Sure seemed like they were teeing it up for her pretty good.

Then she had to go and validate every argument that was made against her during the course of the evening on her inability to answer questions directly and tell us where she will lead the country with her unintelligible answer on the drivers license issue. The pre-written headline (Obama fails to land knockout blow) got junked because of her self-inflicted wound.

3. We know Matthews loves her.
Along with Andrew Sullivan, O'Reilly, Russert. The list is a large one. Part of me wants to see her win the Presidency just to see a few obnoxious heads explode. I know it's petty, but after 7 years of Bush rule, you take what you can get.

20. Except the media won't harp on it like they did to Howard Dean
because the media disliked Dean and wanted to bring him down and make sure an establishment dem got the nomination and this year it's going to be Hillary.

6. They were helping her
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 10:52 PM by senseandsensibility
but no one has ever stated that they will continue to help her throughout the campaign. Obviously, they will not. Now that she looks inevitable they are beginning to pounce, but this is NOTHING compared to what will happen when she is the actual nominee.

7. I never did think that
They're being sexist assholes to her now and it's only going to get worse if she wins the primary. I'm not supporting her in the least but all this crap about her being "shrill" and her cleavage irks me to no end. There is plenty wrong with her actual positions on things but they choose to ignore that and be catty jerks.

8. They gave her twice as much time to speak as any other candidate...
I would say that is a distinct advantage.

her stands became.

9. Well - next week when her numbers go up
everyone will say it is because Timmy and Brian were too easy on her.

Also, they will say that the media did not loop the re-play of the boys pile on moments in prime time. It is so unfair.

Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 11:11 PM by cuke
Hillary flubbed the immigration question, but the media conspiracy to support Clinton was nowhere to be found tonight, complete with timmy's gotcha questions.

Hillary got time because she was attacked by nearly all, and as it is in all debates, they give the attacked a chance to respond. Other than that, I don't see anything that could be said was done to help Hillary, from the questions to the followups. The moderators didn't let anything slide and didn't give her puffball questions

16. Their tactic, in the end, is to get a Republican elected
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 11:05 PM by goodgd_yall
If it means building up another Democrat in order to ensure an easier Republican win, the MSM will do what they have to do. What I think is happening is Clinton has appeared to be too strong a candidate (numbers-wise), so the MSM will participate in knocking her down in order to allow another Democratic to gain popularity. Biden would be a tough opponent for the Repubs; the reason he got such short shrift. As much as I like Edwards, he might be the weakest candidate against the Republicans. Maybe it's all a strategy on the Media's part.

19. Set us up to put us down
Get it?

This is what us "Hillary bashers" have been saying since Day One. They ("They" being the corporate media) don't really want ANY Dem in the oval office. So they're grabbing us by the nose ring and leading us all down the Hillary primrose path. Every "news" channel tells us that she's all but pre-elected. For a reason. They want all of us stoopid dems to rally behind her 'cuz she's a woman and a Clinton. Then they'll destroy her. Swiftboat times two. By next November it will be Whitewater and blowjobs all over again. Hillary supporters just don't seem to get it. She is a dupe. A distraction. If she has any chance of being elected, it will be because of her pandering to the military-industrial complex and Bush's vision of endless war. But Hillary Clinton will NEVER win on her own merits.

22. So now the historical revisionism begins
ACtually, the plot was that they were going to continue helping her until she was nominated, and *then* go after her, but thanks for playing

Only Hillary supporters don't seem to get it. She is the shiny object. We'll be very attracted to her. They'll make sure of it.

I suppose what that means is that they rush in and take her pulse and blood pressure, and if she is deemed alive....she won!
