Ron Paul
I just went on a road trip from NC to GA along I-85 and was very surprised to see so many Ron Paul bumper stickers and signs. The cars had either SC or GA license plates so I assume they were local. The signs were posted at many of the on/off ramps I happened to use.

Does he really have that kind of support in the south?

Just an interesting thought provoking observation.

1. Here in NC, he has a lot of misguided support.
It is hard to understand a lot of young college students and old "hippies" with the signs for him. They hear him talk about ending foreign wars and hear nothing else. He is running a sneaky, snowjob campaign. If he was to face a Democrat in a debate, he would lose all of the support from the left. Once people got to know him, they'd feel like they'd been had.

Does anyone think, though, that he has a chance to be the pub nominee?

Would he run as a third party when he loses?

2. He seems to be a hero in rural areas...
Driving up US Rt 4 from Hudson Falls to Whitehall, I've counted no less than 20 RP signs.

10. Believe it or not, I've seen a few up near Alburgh...
...that's about it, though. On US 4 (between Whitehall & Rutland), I haven't seen any.

4. My neighbors have bumper stickers on all vehicles..
and a sign out in front of their house (this is in northern Virginia). I guess Rudy and Mittsy ain't doing it for the southern fundies.

8. Stormfront isn't mainstream.
So I doubt that is the reason. But whatever the reason, I see it as a split in the republican ranks. This could bode well for democrats.
