Democrats have found someone to take on Senator Stevens of Alaska

Democrats have found someone they believe can hold his own against the very popular Senator Ted Stevens. That person is Marc Begich of Anchorage who is the son of Representative Nick Begich that disappeared in a small plane some thirty years ago on a flight from Anchorage to Juneau. The plane has never been found. Marc served as mayor to Alaska's largest city Anchorage and is very popular. I believe this to be very good news indeed. I would almost prefer him to run against Don Young Alaska's only Representative because it was Don Young that took his father's place after the disappearance. Either way though it is good news because both Stevens and Young are very vulnerable at the moment. Both are being investigated by the FBI for Corruption and Bribery..I think Dean and his fifty state outreach has much to do with this also..

I believe he was on the same plane that Hale Boggs was on. Boggs was on the Warren Commission, about which he had serious doubts, and was also the father of Cokie Roberts.

I will be glad if Stevens is replaced, one out of two is good.

4. I doubt that Stevens will be the nominee

There is a good chance that he will not run for reelection. And if he does, Alaska Republcians have shown a willingness to to dump scandal-plauged incumbents:

Sarah Palin was just elected Governor last election and just last week through National Polling she was picked as the most popular Governor in America with an approval rating of over eighty percent. She certainly was not dumped by the Republicans and has been very adamant about fighting corruption or any appearance of corruption in Government. I have to admit even with my extreme dislike for Republicans I am one of that eighty percent that approves of what she has done, so far anyway.
:shrug: Alaska and Republican did however give Frank Murkowski the boot "Big Time" One of the things that has made Palin so popular is her overturning most of Murkowski's appointees and initiatives.
