Haunted House With a Real Life Scare -Parents/Police create "Haunted Crack House."
Haunted House With a Real Life Scare

Mothers, fathers and police in Butte County hope raw emotion will keep kids away from drugs and alcohol. That emotion is fear. High school students teamed up with local police and paramedics to create the "Haunted Crack House."

This is a 15-year tradition Gridley. Parents and police got tired of seeing kids fall prey to drug and alcohol abuse.

"We brought all of our nieces and nephews and I brought my daughter who is a freshman in high school because I want her to see this is what happens when you make these choices," said Gridley parent Heidi LaGrone.

The house begins with a staged but realistic sentencing of a young man for selling crack-cocaine. He faces at least four years in prison. Kids and parents then pass rooms filled with party scenes and paramedics trying to save a youngster from a drug overdose but eventually dies. There is also a staged arrest made by real Gridley police officers.

4. Staged crackhouse.
Come to my neck of the woods and I can show
you a real one, less than 2 miles from my home.
People live there and in all reality it should
be condemned.
