1. What.........????????
"John C. Twiss, director of the service's law-enforcement branch, said that after years of studying the devices, it would give its 700 officers, who police 153 national forests, "an option other than deadly force in certain law-enforcement situations."

What Twiss doesn't say is that LEOs hesitate to use lethal force especially against a bunch of tree huggers or hippies in the woods (e.g. Rainbow Family). LEOS will not and do not hesitate to use Tasers.

Of parrticular concern is that reports indicate that LEOs use tasers quickly as a way to 'work' with people with pyschiatric disabilities when thay are experiencing decompensating mental illness.

They will taz ya, bro.

3. This kind of activity is increasing
"The Forest Service will likely justify this order by saying that the forests are a dangerous place filled with marijuana growers, meth lab workers and illegal aliens," Scott Silver, the executive director of Wild Wilderness, an Oregon-based grassroots environmental organization, said in an e-mail interview.

Happened right here near Barrington, IL (northwest suburb) of Chicago - in the Cook County Forest Preserve. HUGE operation going on. Much forested area destroyed or ruined by these "squatter" farmers. It's a MUCH bigger problem than is being reported in the mainstream media.
