It's not a lame duck president, it is a lame duck Congress, and they did it to themselves
by enabling the executive branch with so much power, and self-imposed paralysis on themselves, that they are effectively irrelevent

1. They need to just pack up and go home. They're absolutely
useless. They're just drawing paychecks. It's a form of welfare. Damn good welfare.

There's some great ones but as a body ..they suck.

3. I have to agree. We expected so much more, and we should have
gotten at least some of it. The great dereliction is failure to cut off funding for the war (and yes, it could be done if the political will were there.) This failure in particular is going to haunt us. If the war is still surging along in March 2009, the new Democratic President will (1) not get any honeymoon, and (2) have all the oxygen taken out of all the other agendas that should be given priority.
