Tim Russert and Brian Williams MUST be called on their debate questions! POST WORST HERE:
Edited on Wed Oct-31-07 01:45 PM by Dems Will Win

Most questions, rather than being intelligent ones on issues, such as during the YouTube debate, were inane sidebars designed to smear the Democratic candidates, such as bringing up Osama-Obama and the UFO question.

Post your most despised Russert-Williams questions on this thread and also put in the questions you wish they would have asked.

Please recommend this thread and let's turn this into a real push on the debate questions. I'm SICK OF THEM!

2. No questions on Global Warming, no questions how
Edited on Wed Oct-31-07 01:50 PM by alyce douglas
middle class and poor Americans are coping with higher costs of everything, and our never ending invasions.

And that UFO thing was totally uncalled for, and also questions about religion (from a previous debate) "like what is your favorite biblical passage". At one time, someone's religion was private, and now it's blatantly out there, and being forced down peoples' throats.

4. Worse than the questions themselves, the differences of time alloted to different candidates.
Edited on Wed Oct-31-07 01:50 PM by Mass

How are we supposed to judge candidates if they are not given an opportunity to speak.

For the questions itself, UFO and Halloween masks...

question was spectacular I thought and might have won him the debate.

13. It was not just the time alloted to the candidates.
Why did it take fully 20 minutes (maybe more) before either Kucinich or Richardson were included in the "debate?" The candidates themselves should require that at the least, an opening question be asked and that ALL the candidates be given equal time to reply to THAT question, no filibusters. The Russert "gotcha" shit is the reason I stopped watching "Press The Meat" years ago.

21. The lack of time given to Biden was just criminal,
especially since a full minute of that was during the lightning round, where equal time was mandated.

12. Yes, because everyone *does*!
Ok, not everyone... but look at the fact that most people could tell you some crazy amount of details about junk on TV, but not anything about politics or current events or anything outside the U.S. I'm not talking about DUers in general, but the general American populace.

15. one big difference between our society in the US and Europe
is people in Europe are more politically savvy than we are, they read more and are more aware of their goverment, we on the other hand (some of us not all of us) do not care about politics maybe that is why we are in this situation that we are in right now. just my opinion.

22. I believe the corporate media only reinforces and feeds this trend.
They don't want a critical thinking public, a curious and intelligent American People would be much more difficult for them to manipulate toward their own agenda. I'm not speaking toward every journalist just the owners and CEOs of the media that employ the pseudo journalist, millionaire pundits and puppet columnists solely because they agree in lockstep with their master's wishes.
The dumbing down of the American People is not by accident, unfortunately it seems to be spreading, even the BBC is now wasting precious air time reporting on the latest Brittany Spears developments.

18. Missed the whole thing - no MSNBC here
Believe it or not, in northern NJ and large parts of Manhattan, MSNBC is not carried by Verizon Fios. I've been trying to find out why ever since I switched to Fios, but apparently Cablevision has exclusive rights to carry that station in north Jersey and parts of Manhattan. Now, what kind of idiots at MSNBC would make such a deal?

PS - I really miss Keith

19. I'll start my list....
I can't find the transcript to last night's debate so I'll start with the transcript of the 2nd debate moderated by Wolf Blitzer:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/03/us/politics/03demsdebate_transcript.html

MR. BLITZER: Does the Bush administration, Senator, deserve any credit for the fact there's been no terrorist attack here in the United States for nearly six years?

MR. BLITZER: Congressman Kucinich, you voted against the Patriot Act when it was first introduced; you've since voted against it. But some would say yesterday's plot that was described by the FBI underscores the need for precisely that kind of tough measure to deal with potential terrorists out there. (Gloria's note: wtf is the question exactly?)

MR. BLITZER: Senator Biden, why are you reluctant to say now they were wrong and you were right?

MR. BLITZER: All right. We're going to move on to the next question. But before we do, one related question. And I'm going to periodically ask you to raise your hand if you agree or you -- if you agree with the question. And I want you to raise your hand if you believe English should be the official language of the United States.

MR. BLITZER: Governor Richardson, if you were president of the United States, the question is, what would you do with former President Bill Clinton?

MR. BLITZER: All right. I'm going to bring everybody in, but Senator Obama, you want to increase the size of the U.S. military by almost 100,000 troops. That's going to cost billions and billions of dollars. What do you say to Congressman Kucinich, who says he wants to cut the size of the U.S. military? (Gloria's note: I added this one because Wolf states an assumption as fact IMO)

MR. BLITZER: Congressman Kucinich, if you were president of the United States and the intelligence community said to you, "We know where Osama bin Laden is, he's in Pakistan. We've got a specific target, but he's only going to be there for 20 minutes. You got to give the order, yes or no, to take him out with a HELLFIRE missile, but it's going to kill some innocent civilians at the same time," what would be your decision?

MR. BLITZER: I just want everybody to raise their hand and tell me if you agree that if the U.S. had intelligence that could take out Osama bin Laden and kill him, even though some innocent civilians would die in the process, would you, as president, authorize such an operation? If you would raise your hand.

MR. BLITZER: Senator Obama, what is a definition of "rich"?

....

I skimmed the transcript pretty quickly so add any that I missed

24. The whole debate was a disaster. Williams
and Russett set out to destroy Hillary. I know that you all dislike her but it was so one sided that I turned it off. Talk about a gang bang. It was disgusting. I'll bet Tweety will be all excited tonight. God I hate him he bashes Hillary so much I think he is being paid by the RNC so is Russett. Willams is out of it completely.

26. The best definition yet about the "debate."
Talk about a gang bang.

One can actually feel Russert's animosity and hate for her come through the teevee screen. I have no doubt that the Clinton's and the campaign are well aware of his and Tweety's agenda which is to tear her down much like they tore Gore down. I fail to understand how any Democrat finds joy in that.

Thank you...

23. Russert trying to single-handedly force the U.S. into war with Iran, as if the American
people have no say in the matter. Russert asked Hillary if she would pledge that Iran would not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon during her presidency. No responsible candidate in their right mind would pledge to go to war in the future without knowing what the circumstances might be. Hillary smartly pledged to do everything she could to prevent it, but would not take the absolutist position pigboy Russert tried to force on her several times. Edwards did the same. Now the repugs and the Foxtards will be screaming saying the dems are weak because they aren't irresponsible maniacs like the bottom-feeders in the republican race.

Somebody should let Russert know other countries (like Pakistan) already have nukes. I got an idea. Let's invade everybody!
