Harry Reid can Kiss my Oregon Environmentalist Ass
original-ap

What an affront to fellow Senators not to mention the people he represents. But because poor Harry was feeling pressure from the Bush Admin and CO Senators he just decided to plow right over my Senator's very legitimate reason for not being in the chamber and placing a hold on this nomination. Maybe it's time for Harry to step down from a leadership position if he's just gonna continue to crumble every time he "feels pressure" from the opposition.Criminy. As long as the Dems keep acting like this who needs the GOPosse?

Twins May Be Key to Interior Job

By MATTHEW DALY – 20 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — A new assistant Interior secretary may owe his political promotion to an Oregon senator's newborn twins.

Lyle Laverty, former director of Colorado State Parks, was confirmed this week as assistant Interior secretary for fish, wildlife and parks. He will oversee the National Park Service and the Fish and Wildlife Service, among other duties.

Laverty's confirmation came as his chief political opponent — Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore. — was away from the Capitol celebrating the birth Friday of a twin boy and girl.

Wyden's absence allowed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to schedule a vote on Laverty's nomination, despite a hold Wyden had placed on Laverty because of concerns about ethics violations at the Interior Department.

Without Wyden there to object, the Democratic-controlled Senate confirmed Laverty's nomination late Monday on a voice vote.

1. Wow, way to go Harry! Throw our own under the bus and,
to quote KO, back it up and drive over him again.

Can't wait for a guy to get back after the birth of his own children?

What is so f'ing important about an "Assistant Interior Secretary" that *'s nominee has to go through? I doubt anyone would be concerned if the job just went unfilled for the balance of *'s term.

Or am I missing something here?

3. That is beyond the pale.
How disgusting. I really would like to see Reid go. And at this point, if that means he gets defeated in 2010, that's OK with me.

4. Reid has been bought and paid for
He's the Trojan Horse - someone who has obviously taken big money from corporations and GOP supporters to keep their agenda moving through Congress.

The sad part is, they will one day "out" Reid and whatever kind of bribery scheme he has going on and it will end up making Dems look bad.

Reid has to go, he's becoming a liability to the party.

5. Wow that's pretty low
I had high hopes for Reid before he became minority leader. I thought he might be an improvement over Daschle. I even tried excusing him until the Dems won the senate since he didn't have a majority.

Instead he's been awful. This kind of shit is unacceptable. You don't screw members of your own party over like that. Some say a similar thing was done to Obama earlier on the Iran Kyle-Lieberman resolution.

Reid needs to be replaced. I find him even worse than Pelosi.

7. I'm pissed off too.
Just what won't we give away?

Also, I never knew that the majority leader has the power to remove a hold from a bill.

why VOTERS are expected to show party loyalty when party "leaders" treat their fellow Democrats like this?

12. I don't think he's bad at all. He asked the man to do his job.
Think of the people overseas who don't get to see their kids for months or years. The kids are still going to be there if you have to wait one day to work for the taxpayers.

13. So you don't think the leader's job is to stand up to a little pressure from the
white house once in a while to keep another unethical POS outta the fish and wildlife service? Especially when our forests and salmon are hanging by a thread?
