Mr. Bush, upon leaving the Oval, should spend every minute of every hour of every day thereafter...
...tending graves.

A humble way for Bush to make amends
After leaving office, he could tend graves of fallen soldiers

BY RICHARD ROEPER Sun-Times Columnist
October 31 2007

In a recent column I speculated on President Bush's post-White House plans. What should he do with himself?

Alice Collins of Oak Lawn has an idea.

"Three hundred and sixty-five days a year, in the wind and snow of winter and the heat and humidity of summer, let him tend to the graves of the almost 4,000 men and women who have given their lives in the debacle of Iraq. They honored their oaths, obeyed their commander-in-chief and sacrificed their lives of promise to a lying, unprincipled warmonger. He can begin at the grave of my grandson, Lcpl Jonathan W. Collins, killed in action on 8/8/2004."

Amen.

Marine Lance Cpl. Jonathan Collins of Crystal Lake was killed by enemy fire in the Al Anbar province of Iraq in the summer of 2004. He was 19.

Nineteen. You're supposed to be attending college and going to football games and meeting girls and dreaming about your future when you're 19.

Access tributes to Jonathan and other soldiers at fallenheroesmemorial.com. It's impossible to read the comments from friends and relatives and loved ones without feeling your heart get so heavy you can barely breathe.

3. No, Not Tending Graves
I'm sorry, but tending graves is no punishment.

Those people who actually tend the graves in our National Cemetaries do so with a sense of honor and purpose.

Tending graves is too good for Bush.

Plus, if Bush tends the graves of the almost 4,000 women and men who have given their lives in the debacle of Iraq, their ery graves will be dishonored.

It is far better, to my way of thinking, to make Bush go to the deepest, darkest, loneliest cell in Guantanamo. And let him be tended by the people HE tortured.

11. Yep. And I'd want to watch:

Then again, seppuku is done to regain honor. I'm afraid that's simply impossible with Bush.

9. I would rather see him frog marched to the Hague.
A vote for Dennis Kucinich will be one step closer to that reality.

10. He signed up
I as a former combat arms soldier in the army I can say that although I am sorry for your loss, when someone signs up to be in a combat situation you don't get to pick and choose your war. And I'm sure that the world is alot worse off with Saddam dead and the tens of thousands of people he has killed probably deserved it. I know that if you were put in their situation you wouldn't accept being rescued. I'm sure if you asked your fallen hero, he didn't share your opinion. After all he had the balls to defend freedom. He volunteered!!!
