Travelers Beware: Homeland Security is Googling You
I guess I wont be traveling cross border anytime soon. ;-) I use google everyday using words like Bush-nazi or bush-911 or anthrax-bush and bush-asshole.
See ya at the border :hi:

We've all undoubtedly heard the warnings about being careful about the information we put online, as well as the stories of potential employers and college admissions and coaches checking up on people online through Google and social networking sites like My Space and Facebook. But here's a new one for you: the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is also using this information to check up on individuals entering the country. "They" are watching you, and "they" know what you've been up to.

Andrew Feldman, a Hungarian-born Holocaust survivor who's currently a psychotherapist in Vancouver, was recently detained for four hours, fingerprinted, and then barred entry into the United States after Homeland Security googled him and found an article he wrote in a literary and scientific journal in which he talked about using LSD and various other drugs in the 1960's. And even though he has no criminal record and says he hasn't used drugs since the 1970's, Feldmar must now get formal permission from the U.S. consul before entering the U.S.

Feldmar has been accustomed to visiting the U.S. about five or six times per year to visit his children, but last summer when he was pulled over for a random search, border patrol turned up online evidence that he had experimented with drugs for therapeutic research in the past.

Now nearly a year later, Feldmar has come to the conclusion that his banishment from the United States is permanent. He claims that the waiver process is exhausting, costly, and demeaning. His family and friends are devastated.

1. Well, good for them.

BTW: Banks, security cameras, private corporations, private investigators, your lover, your children, your grocery store, your employer, your dust mites, and your plumber all know about everybody to some extent too. And others. Why should people get freaked out now?

I wonder how this Andrew chap feels about LSD today that he hadn't 40 years ago? Just "not using them" isn't the same as a philosophical change.

12. wow.... you really believe that?
What kind of country do we have when there is no more "starting over" or "making mistakes". Your comments are quite self rightious.

11. And the Supreme Court won't suspend the constitution
and appoint Bush President. And the Security agencies won't ignore direct intelligence about an attack on the US by men in planes on 911. And the President won't read a children's book while the country is under attack. And they won't not notify people in NOLA that the levees are failing and they won't hold back aid as long as possible. And they won't use Presidential directives to suspend the Constitution and they won't not find and punish Osama Ben Ladin and they won't not find and punish the anthrax people.

And they won't go into Iraq without a plan for after the invasion and they won't put us on the economic path to the destruction of the dollar. And they won't put hackable machines to vote on. And they won't disenfranchise millions of Americans, a lot of them serving overseas in a hellhole. And they won't ignore every treaty, the Geneva Convention and UN rules on torture to torture thousands of people, children included.

Very funny joke.

7. Thanks I'll google bush is nuts, crazy a nazi more often.
I'd like to see the S.O.B. show up at my door. My family have been in this country since 1737 on both sides. We have never been involved in any acts against the United States.

We fought in all the wars in this country since 1776 on the side of the US> so just let them try. At least my relatives aren't related to Vlad Tepes, or Vlad the Impaler.
