1. That was a user made card. I never even heard of this company until yesterday.
i don't really care for ecards, i like to go the store, take some time picking one out and actually mailing it. You kids and your new fangled technology, now get offa mah lawn.

3. I know it was a user made card
that doesn't change anything... their website is not a free for all. I believe everything is submitted and approved.

whether you like ecards or not is not the issue. I like them. They can be much more interactive than regular cards, which are made from dead trees.

I'm surprised you never heard of Blue Mountain, they're the biggest ecard site on the net.

19. Yeah give to a RED cpmpany instead of a BLUE one
This is like stopping buying things on ebay or cafepress because you object to one seller's political item.

35. I found the old company was 100% Blue. American Greeting is certainly not
Edited on Thu Feb-15-07 02:18 PM by rinsd
That was my mistake. That still doesn't make your reaction anymore rational as I have stated dealing with member communities.

I'm not even sure where they found that card. I couldn't find it on the website beyond the direct link provided. It doesn't show up under their "tree" of Valentine's day. You can find it by searching for Pelosi. So if your issue was with editorial oversight that appears to have worked itself out.

36. That's a Democratic solution?
Who cares about some poor attempt at humor that has gotten way more attention because of overreation than it would have if people shrugged their shoulders finding it unfunny and moved on?

You would prefer a oversight body that censures objectionable material?

21. recycled greeting cards
yes I know they are available. I used to sell them. but you probably have to drive to a different store if you can find them, and that means burning more fossil fuels. I'm not saying "real" cards are bad and ecards are great. i'm just mentioning these things because you were sort of criticising the use of ecards, and I wanted to point out there are some good things about them too. another thing is, you said there's a benefit to spending time looking at all the cards and choosing the one you want... the exact same thing happens with ecards. I don't think they're any less personal, just because they were delivered electronically.

2. Honestly, it's too damn lame to bother stressing about.
Do they have any anti-repuke ones to balance it out?

If not, then I guess I would understand your wanting to cancel.

As the poll on Faux's new TDS ripoff in GD points out, the humor is too mean-spirited and contrived to even be funny.

4. i get your point
but I think it is still important to fight back even when it's stupid. the only way these folks listen is if you cut off some money. so I cancelled my membership, which was paid. If others do this, and I assume they are, someone will hear the message.

6. So you cancelled your membership in a 100% BLUE company?
Because one member made a tasteless card?

otherwise the site would turn into a huge Youtube fest with all kinds of crap. ultimately the company is responsible.

Would you stop viewing YouTube because someone posted a video making fun of liberals or Democrats?

Because this is basically the same thing.

9. Out Of All The Petty Outrages We've Seen These Last Few Weeks, This One Takes The Cake.
Just when I think the petty crying can't get any worse, in comes a thread about an online card company that had a card available made by a USER on it that someone didn't like. Holy cow. I coudln't even begin to imagine giving a frog's fat ass about something so monumentally inconsequential.

11. I think we have to say that again IT'S A USER-MADE CARD
the company is 100% BLUE. Should we start telling them that their users can only make cards we like, or we're going to cancel our memberships? (I'm a member). Should they start telling users what they can and can't make?

This is so ridiculous....

31. I call bullshit.
everyone has their own level of tolerance for crap like this. you might laugh at it, others might cancel their memberships.

in the past, we've had an abundance of apathy. would you rather go back to that - where people did less than you want them to, not more?

the bottom line is this is not an isolated incident. I'm tired of the attacks on Pelosi and the rest. this is one opportunity I had to make a statement and I did.

It would be a good idea to let them know how objectionable that is. I wouldn't mind it quite so much if there was one bashing Reptiles in the same fashion. Equal time is fine.
