Franken to Angry Partisans & Liberal Hollywood Elites: Be My Valentine!

Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey today issued the following statement regarding Al Franken's candidacy for the U.S. Senate.
"Given his blind partisanship and extreme anger, Al Franken is the last person Minnesotans need in the United States Senate. While Senator Norm Coleman continues to work with all sides for the betterment of our state and nation, Franken offers Minnesotans nothing but polarization and vitriolic personal attacks."

7. He couldn't do it legally
The airtime would be considered a campaign contribution. (free advertising) And it would only take a few minutes for the total worth of the publicity to exceed the legal limit on campaign contributions.

2. and so it begins
I was thinking about this earlier, wondering how deep in the SNL archives Coleman will dig to find something on Al.

Perhaps he will use some Stewart Smalley clips to show how Al just isn't "manly" enough

16. I wouldn't worry too much about old SNL footage haunting him

Remember, we're talking about the state that elected a professional wrestler as Governor not so long ago. And as a plus, Franken does a darned good impression of him, too.

8. Every time I listen to Franken's show...
I'm thinking, "Man, he is one angry dude. He really has to chill out and relax. He doesn't need to spew such venom for 3 hours every day!"

:sarcasm:

(inserting the sarcasm smiley in case somebody in MN decides to use it in the future)

17. And that he was too moderate and actually tried to have some
dialogue with conservatives. I'm sure he will figure out a way to turn these attacks into jokes and totally derail the neo-cons in their tracks. I'm counting on him making them look stupid, just like he did to O'Reilly.

19. I roll my eyes when I hear Franken compared to the likes of Limbaugh
which is why I used the sarcasm smiley. Al is about as laid back as you can get. I loved his books and I think he is a great spokesperson for Democrats, however his laid-back personality didn't work all that great on radio.

And, I think one difference between our side and their side is that we will debate the other side, live on the air. Thom Hartmann does it almost every day, it seems. How often does Limbaugh debate leading progressives live on his show?

20. The Sad thing is Franken's show was more of a public Affaris show... like the "old" NPR
He reminds me of a cross between Bob Edwards and Garrison Kiellor.

People don't do studious anymore, except on public broadcasting which has been taken over by the righties and neolibs.

13. "Given his blind partisanship and extreme anger..."
Mr. Al Franken: comedian; talk show host. Searching for a way to tap into the hidden strengths that all humans have. Then an accidental overdose of gamma radiation alters his body chemistry. And now when Al Franken grows angry or outraged, a startling metamorphosis occurs. The creature is driven by rage and pursued by an investigative reporter. (Franken: "Mr. O'Reilly, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.") The creature is wanted for a murder he didn't commit. Norm Coleman's career is believed to be dead, and he must let the world think that it is dead, until he can find a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within him.

who speak for the GOP, ever go back and look at their words and notice how stupid they sound?
