In no way are we experiencing "debates".
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 10:07 PM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
I have hated the format of every so-called "debate" of either party I have seen so far.

I would like to suggest a different format, one that is frankly patterned after beauty pageants.

I think there should be 10 questions selected in advance which the candidates have absolutely no knowledge of.

I think that they should all be sequestered off-stage in a soundproof area and that they should be called one by one onto the stage and given 3 minutes each to answer the same question.

They would not be able to hear or know what any other candidate has said in response to the same question.

I think that THEN we might find out what their views are and who we agree or disagree with and the time would not be dis proportionally allocated to media anointed front runners. It would also eliminate grandstanding and obfuscation.

We might all be surprised.

edited for spelling.

1. They have been Q & A Sessions
as far as I'm concerned. I prefer watching the Town Hall type forums where the candidate takes questions from the group - as long as it's not a "select, hand picked" audience and the questions are formulated from the start.

3. Don't you think we could get a better idea as to what they are
and what they do if...we took 1/2 hour and asked the candidates their opinions on such and such a subject. What they would do in such and such an incident. I think if we had something like this we could really find out exactly what the candidates stand for. Debates like the ones they have had are stupid. Especially since the moderates are a bunch of crap themselves.

4. Your ideas are good.
The "debates" have not really been "fair" in the sense of equal time. The manipulation of big money and the bias of the media is painfully obvious.

Oh, yeah, ain't "freedom" grand?

5. The best debate that I've seen was between Michael Moore and Bill O'Reilly
They just sat across from each other at a table and argued back and forth.
