Goode: Without Surge, U.S. Money May Soon Say "In Muhammad We Trust"

By Eric Kleefeld | bio

"In Muhammad We Trust." That's what GOP Rep. Virgil Goode says that U.S. money risks being marked with — that is, if we don't support escalation of the Iraq war as part of our broader efforts to stave off Muslim domination of the United States in general. "In Muhammad We Trust." Goode, you may recall, sparked a national controversy back in December by saying that the U.S. should close its borders lest it be overrun by frightening hordes of Muslims. Not only is this man an ignorant piece of shit bigot, but he can't even get his mock slogans correct. Our money says "In God we trust." If he were accurate and smart this should read "In Allah We Trust". He should know Muhammad is the Muslim's prophet, not their god, which is Allah.

2. His xenophobia is right out of the 19th century
If you look at it, is it amazing how similar the arguments are.

Now it's the Muslims and the Mexicans. It used to be the Irish and the Poles.

3. And he would also know that "Allah" is Arabic for God
and that is the same God as the one worshipped by Christians and Jews (and anyone who worships God--there is only one, though God may take many forms).

The amount of lying and ignorance about Islam that goes on the internet continually amazes me. When a very easily searchable Qur'an is available (which shows the three major English translations), it never ceases to amaze me that many people say "The Koran says this---" with no citations. I always try to look up the alleged verse, and usually don't find it--or find that whoever gave them the text "conveniently" took out words to completely change the meaning.

Please, folks, whatever your feeling about Islam--don't ever take someone's word for it when they talk of the Qur'an. Look it up for yourself--here's the url for an excellent site:

http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/

And help stamp out ignorance whenever you see it rear its ugly head.

4. Yep...guess I shouldn't be surprised he's never taken a world religions
course in school. It's pretty obvious.

8. It's bigoted AND utterly stupid.
This type of idiotic rhetoric doesn't go anywhere anymore. It's just plainly ridiculous. Clearly, NO ONE is going to force the United States to surrender to anything. Give me a break.
