I wish Olbermann would stop using Michael Musto...
he's just not very funny. Occasionally has a good line, but mostly it's just stretching to be outrageous.

He's much better in print.

1. I have never read him.
But I don't think he is funny, just bizarre.

3. I think he's great in print, too. It seems to be his home-field advantage.
Often he goes for the outrageous line and the equally outrageous humor, but once in a blue moon Musto writes an entirely stgraight-ahead serious issue column in the VOICE, and you see where the writing talent comes from.

4. yeah
I think the main problem is that he simply cannot deliver a line well, so no matter how funny, it just seems weak.

And, as they say, he has a face for radio.

5. Is Musto still alive?
He's been covering the NY "Scene"(an incestuous little claque if there ever was one...) since dirt was in beta testing. Christ, he used to write about Max's Kansas City. That place followed the Dinosaurs out of town.

14. Yes, but he had a tough act to follow at the Village Voice, with Arthur Bell...
Now HE was funny! Michael doesn't even touch his humor...
(But Dan Savage comes close.)

I did leave town, right before Bell died, as Michael took over, but I'm no dinosaur ;)

6. I agree
Sometimes he makes me cringe and I hope that it is over fast for the sake of the show.

7. Really, Keith, must we Musto?
I always turn him off because I don't want to be watching when his big weird head finally detaches from his body and floats away.

I would also like to add Dana Milbanks to the go-away list. That snake is a sidewinder.

8. I stop watching when Musto appears. Same for that American Idol woman.
I find them both highly annoying.

10. Time Killer...
He usually doesn't bring Musto or Maria Malito (who is one fine radio personality, but is terrible on Countdown) to fill time at the end of the show...makes it easier to produce the show on the fly. A lot of what Keith does relies on available materials and on a slow news day (and today would qualify for most), virtually the last half hour of Keith's show was filler.

12. As far as I'm concerned, that whole bit at the end of his show
could give way to a bit more serious news and commentary, but, since he just signed a contract for another four years, I suspect the programmers will leave it in.
Musto, in my opinion, is the sharpest, quickest, and funniest of any of the guests he brings on for the silly section. Of course, the competition isn't very keen.
Since he makes little or no use of that squeaky, crazy worm, Pat Buchanon, I'll cut him slack on some of his other guests.

13. Ditto for Musto.......
I'm sure he's a very fine writer, but I do think his oratorical delivery leaves a lot to be desired.

18. I sent MSNBC an email telling them that we record keith on Dish
and NEVER EVER EVER watch any of the "cutesy" stuff..and asked them to quit making him "balance" his show with fluff and nonsense. I reminded them that his numbers jumped when he started reporting real news about the adminstration..not when he shows donkeys in mid air or when the Indian guy pierces his face and drags a truck..

we fast forward through the crap..and never ever watch the commercials.

They responded with a robo-email thanking me for watching:eyes:

commercials make me insane!

you do have a point, now that you mention it. it seems
odd that he would spend so much time on such trash when
so many important stories are available. his employers
must have a hand in it...
