In total disregard for family values and the U.S. Constitution, ICE deported a stay-at-home mom with three U.S.-born children.
On Feb 6th she was placed on a bus and taken to Nogales, Mexico where she has no family and arrived in the middle of the night. This happened even though her lawyers were in the process of seeking relief for her so she could be released from detention.
An ICE Deportation Officer told her:
“she had to leave” and she can call “her attorneys from Mexico.”
This tragic case demonstrates how the federal government’s expedited removal proceedings result in terrible mistakes and deprive individuals of the rights granted to them by our immigration laws and the Constitution.
WHY SYLVIA SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DEPORTED:
• Sylvia Haydee Uribe-Reyna was granted a court order prohibiting ICE from deporting her.
• Sylvia Haydee Uribe-Reyna has lived in the United States for 22 years.
• Sylvia Haydee Uribe-Reyna has three U.S.-born children ages 19, 18, and 10.
• Sylvia Haydee Uribe-Reyna is married to Adolfo Huerta for over 20 years, a legal permanent resident.
• Sylvia Haydee Uribe Reyna could be eligible to adjust her status to that of a lawful permanent resident.
• Sylvia Haydee Uribe-Reyna’s family should NOT be torn apart.
