GOP Retracts Its Criticism of Pelosi
GOP Retracts Its Criticism of Pelosi

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republicans quickly retracted a news release Thursday that accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of violating copyrights of C-SPAN, the cable channel that televises House and Senate proceedings.

The GOP took Pelosi to task because her new blog used video of this week's Iraq war debate, but then backtracked after learning C-SPAN had no copyright for the footage.

The Republican Study Committee, a group of conservative House members, contended in an afternoon news release that Pelosi's Web log violated copyright and trademark law by pirating ''for partisan purposes'' clips of members speaking on the House floor.

The clips, hosted by the popular video-sharing Web site YouTube, have C-SPAN's logo visible...

1. That's base, vile, vulgar of the Republicans.
They made a very serious accusation that would have invited significant FEC scrutiny and major lawsuits with charges that were apparently easily found to be completely false, and had they been true, the outcry would, and should, have been so great that immediate changes in the law and C-SPAN's broadcast rights would have been quickly forthcoming.

But for it to come out as just a big fat farce because they were uninformed accusers is absolutely shameful.

3. So desperate, so pathetic. That's today's GOP.
I'm waiting for their next big exposé on Pelosi's criminal jaywalking activities!

Everything they come up with is transparently phony and tedious, but their voting base doesn't care if it's true or not, only that they have something to attach their hate to.

4. Boner should apologize on the floor of the House for the gop's libel
The gop has libeled the Speaker of the House and should apologize for it, first on the floor of the House, then on every "news" program there is.

5. Why does that worry me that Pelosi has somehow given them something?
I hope I am wrong....
