Tim Hardaway--professional jerk!

OK, maybe Hardaway is too easy a target, but I heard the comments on TV and I was appalled at the casual way in which he said these things.

I am aware that homophobia is worse among African-Americans, but this guy needs some real therapy!

I've heard comments from people (probably freepers!) saying Hardaway is being unfairly targeted for simply expressing his opinion. I have two issues with that:

1. He was speaking as a member of an NBA team at an NBA-sponsored event, therefore creating a link between his opinions and those of the NBA. There's no free speech if you're speaking on behalf of your employer!

2. The suggestion in his remarks that homosexuals should not be "part of the world," implies that GLBT people should somehow be wiped out.

Hardaway should reconsider his words, replacing "gay" with "black," "Jewish," "woman," "Hispanic," or "white."

3. It's funny to watch Sean Hannity suddenly defend free speech when

it's a guy who wants gay people wiped off the face of the earth but when a Mom loses her child or someone criticizes the president they are anti-American.

Sure, Hardaway can say he hates gays because of free speech but free speech has consequences as the right wing use to say about the Dixie chicks. Hardaway better apologize and make an effort to learn about his problem or he will continue to reap the consequences.

The right wing is so hypocritical. :eyes:
