Help Kucinich raise $50,000 by Monday
Edited on Fri Feb-16-07 02:01 PM by CrazyForKucinich
I really think someone at the Kucinich camp is listening to my ideas...

I wrote in mid December to tell them to start a fundraising drive on the site by New Years day...and the lady responded 2 weeks later, in late December that it wasn't possible. I wrote her back saying how I probably wouldn't be supporting Kucinich if his campaign can't even complete a simple task of fundraising.

Well then Kucinich came out 2 weeks later with his 10 million Fundraiser or whatever...which I'm sure he's nowhere near...but now they have a $50,000 goal by Monday...and an actual counter on the website...which is what I wanted.

Anyhow, as much discontented I am with the organization of the Kucinich campaign from this go around and his 2004 run...he's the only candidate that I agree with on the issues, so I'm gonna throw him a bucks. If every registered user here gave him $5 he'd have 5 million. $10...$10 million.

I'm broke as hell(have less than $100...which will be going to bills at the end of the month) but I'm in for $5. Who's with me?

1. You got me. I just donated $5.
I'm pretty broke right now too, but when I went to his site, and saw that awesome Kucinich 2008, with the World Peace symbolism built-in, it reminded me that this is truly the ONLY candidate that comes close to matching my views.

2. He's the only candidate that's not afraid to take a stance...
On issues. The other ones seem to avoid taking stances. I hate that.

3. True. Thats why he deserves our support. He's the ONLY one telling it like it is.

16. Ditto. I can't afford it, but I'll skip some meals. I'm in.
I've yet to see anyone that comes close to Kucinich on the issues and with the obvious character and integrity.

I can barely tolerate the cowards who give up before even trying.

There are only 100,000 registered people here? I thought it was 1 million...eh.

9. I supported Kucinich last time
but I'm not willing to take him seriously as a candidate if he isn't willing to take his own campaign seriously. He doesn't based on what I saw in 2004. I'll support Obama this time. He's a good progressive that can run a decent campaign. He's great on all the same issues that made me like Dennis last time.

10. Somehow...
I can't imagine Kucinich campaigning for Joe Lieberman, as Obama did.

13. Somehow
I can't base my vote on someone maintaining the longstanding Senate tradition of supporting other incumbent Senators. That's one hell of a single issue to base your support on. Maybe you'd be surprised at some of the conservative Democrats Kucinich has campaigned for in Ohio over the years.

15. It's Joe Lieberman dude.
JOE LIEBERMAN. A fucking Republican in Democratic clothes.

I'm not a big fan of Obama sucking up to AIPAC either...Joe must be rubbing off on him.

17. Oh please
You can count the major Democrats who didn't support Lieberman in the primary on one hand. Its called having respect for those you work with on a regular basis. The guilt by association stuff is always lame no matter who its being done to. Supporting an incumbent Democratic Senator in the primary did not make Obama conservative and you know its baloney to claim that.

Its pretty lame to trash one of the few people who actively opposed the war in Iraq as early as Kucinich did for something so petty. But hey, Obama made a speech for Lieberman so none of his progressive record counts for anything now, huh?

Do you think Kucinich will hire a campaign manager this time that has actually worked on a campaign before? Maybe he'll actually pick up the phone and ask major donors for money if he doesn't think he's too special for that kind of work this time around.

20. Have you checked out Obama's wussy approach to health care?
Just the usual bandaids. And a "free" trader to boot.

22. Obama voted against CAFTA
don't call him a free trader. Its not true.
I read his book and he offers more than a band aid. You don't have to make other candidates look more conservative to help Dennis. He really isn't the only progressive choice this year.

24. This is direct from the Obama 08 site on health care
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/healthcare/

I see nothing but bandaids here. Not one single mention of universal health care.

The anti-CAFTA vote is good news, but his vote in favor final passage of of S. 2611 which would increase H1b visas by approximately 495,000 visas per year is most assuredly not.

He for sure isn't the triangulator that Hillary is, but he's getting similar media play because the powers that be don't feel very threatened by him. Bad sign.

26. I see more than band-aids
but I guess you'll see what you want to see considering your desire to make all other candidates not look progressive enough.

Maybe Barack gets better press coverage because he's more effective at communicating progressive ideals in a compelling way that connects with the public. Or its because he comes off much better on TV and has a better press secretary than Dennis and can actually raise enough money to be a serious candidate.
I'm not going to dismiss Obama's strongly progressive record over his entire life, including the work he did before getting elected to office, because of press conspiracy theories.

27. Where?
Where does he mention universal health care on that policy page? All I see is use computers and genetic information better. Maybe he gets better coverage because he doesn't get into very much detail about his actual progressive beliefs, and so appears less threatening.

28. He mentioned universal heal thcare in his announcement speech.
"Let's be the generation that finally tackles our health care crisis. We can control costs by focusing on prevention, by providing better treatment to the chronically ill, and using technology to cut the bureaucracy. Let's be the generation that says right here, right now, that we will have UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE in America by the end of the next president's first term."

He writes more about it in his book. I'm sure he'll come out with a more detailed plan soon. He hasn't been running for President for the last four years, like some people.

30. Why isn't it on his website?
He has his head up his rear end with cost control, seeing has how the primary driver of health care costs is the existence of private insurance with its built-in policy of avoiding including actual sick people in its fragmented risk groups. Technology can cut bureaucracy, but only with real universal health care, which is why every other industrialized country in the world is way ahead of us in this respect. Better treatment of the chronically ill will increase costs, though if we cut private insurers out of the mix we could afford it.

including during his announcement speech. Try reading his book. Its in there, as I already pointed out three times now. I'm sure you're not that dumb. You're just being contrarian and stubborn.

37. I expect a clear statement from any serious candidate--
--on his or her website firmly stating that everybody gets health care--NO EXCEPTIONS. A website is a candidate's formal statement of program and principles.
