Do we need a vaccination discussion group/area?
It seems there is quite an interest in the subject, and I thought I'd toss that out. This area is one of the most heated I've ever seen here on DU. In fact, I think the subject matter makes the primaries look mild in contrast?

Anyone?

1. There's already the 9-11 forum...
for other loony conspiracy theories. Wish they'd take it there.

2. pardon?
Questioning the motives of a pharmaceutical company, the safety of their vaccines, and the wisdom of forced innoculation is loony conspiracy theory material?

As has been said many a time on this board, nobody forces you to read anything you are not interested in.

4. You're absolutely right
I'm generally in favor of vaccination but I certainly don't think it's tin-hat territory to question the motives of pharmaceutical companies and how there's a conflict of interest between their science and their bottom line.

16. No. Personally, I think all those things deserve serious discussion.
A serious discussion uncluttered by outrageously disruptive
posts full of false claims, childish broad-brush smears,
and broken-record flamebait insults.

27. Lol! If I was aware of such a site....
...I can't honestly say I would admit to it. I should
imagine the temptation to keep such wonderful knowledge
to myself would be pretty strong!

7. i think it's because there are 2-3 posters who post made up #s as "stats" and mislead
with articles heavily edited to make vaccines seem really dangerous when in fact, the article doesn't say that at all.
there's someone who used to pretend to teach at medical school who was posting anti sex and conspiracy nonsense. They have kinda poisoned the well here.

6. How about a psuedo-science forum also?
or would that be a lies/damned lies/statistics forum?

I'd say no to the vaccine group. Things come and go and are heated and not in GD. No need for a vaccines/ schiavo/ ANS/ etc group.

8. Or a blind faith in drug companies forum?
It would likely be a conflict of interest/lies/damned cherry picked statistics forum. Schaivo is dead, vaccination is an issue of continued interest. However, the topic does come and go with each new mandate/issue.

14. I don't think it needs a separate forum
I would like to see the threads in the Health forum though, so they are easier to find. They get buried so fast in GD.

25. That's a fantastic idea
I think we should alert every time someone posts a new vaccine thread so it can get moved to the health forum quickly. Or an even better idea, the vaccine people could take some personal responsibility and just go to the health forum and post there in the first place.
