Reunited POLICE, GENESIS added to Gore's concert lineup
also Knaye West, who I've seen put on a hell of a live show
----
UPDATE: Additions to Live Earth Lineup

As we reported yesterday, Al Gore will be teaming up with Live 8 creator Kevin Wall to produce Live Earth, a musical concert behemoth taking place July 7th and featuring an all-star lineup of grade-A headliners. ROLLING STONE has learned exclusively that we can add three more music heavyweights to the bill: The Police, Genesis and Kanye West. The concert, which will touch down in every continent on the planet, will raise funds and awareness for environmental causes, specifically global warming, an issue close to Gore’s heart. While big names like Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones and U2 have not yet signed on for the concert, organizers say they’re still in negotiations with a score of musicians and expect the final lineup to include more than 100 top acts.

Without Bonzo, of course. But....damn. THAT would be something.

24. Understand Bonzo's son will be doing the drumming - which is
just UTTERLY cool! Keeps it in the family!

This is WONDERFUL!!! Gore is EVERYBODY's president, now. He goes beyond a simple job title.

30. Is this true about Zeppelin?
I know Jason Bonham has been playing wih Foreigner and I also know he's been having problems with arthritis so they may need to find another drummer. Which IMHO would be a good thing, Jason is a good solid drummer but he's no Bonzo.

31. Unfortunately, that is not true.
Someone goofed the story, they pulled up a rumor story from 2003 and ran with it. Not happening.

35. Unfortunately, I fear you're correct. 'Cause I haven't seen anything
else on it but speculation. Including my own.

Ahhh... one can dream. My kid would give anything to see such a reunion. He LOVES Led Zep.

36. So does mine!
He's 12 and he can sing every lyric to nearly every song. Favorites are "In My Time of Dying", "Kashmir" and "Immigrant Song". He would love to see Zeppelin. I was so pissed when I found out it was a hoax. I was getting us front row seats at whatever cost.

37. Shoot! Me too. My son is 14 and can play a lot of Led Zep songs.
Edited on Sat Feb-17-07 12:47 AM by calimary
He's quite good by now. He was playing "Stairway to Heaven" on acoustic guitar in the back of the car one day when I went to pick my daughter and her friends up from school. They weren't paying close attention when they heard it, and thought it was the radio!

Man, would he LOVE to see a reconstituted Led Zep. Under ANY circumstances. Me, too. Sigh...

39. I'm with you.
My first concert ever was Led Zeppelin in 1975. Unfortunately I was only 5 years old. All I can remember is asking my uncles what that funny smell was and why the girls were taking their shirts off.

And get Roger Dean to do some artwork for the promos too! I would think he could do some inspiring artwork on melting icebergs, etc. from global warming.

If it's the pre 1975 Peter Gabriel version, then it's great news!

So I doubt they'll get Gabriel and Hackett in just for this one concert.

I missed all the crazy live shows in the 70's because I was only 4 when he quit. It's not fair! :)

40. No, neither Gabriel nor Hackett is on the tour
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6067646.stm

reading between the lines of interviews, it seems clear they were only willing to include Hackett if Gabriel joined too - which was a possibility, but he declined in the end.

I'm damn envious of you, though ...

we know phil collins is back with them, but they've recorded with gabriel as well
peter's a big environmentalist and has done tons of stuff for greenpeace, so he might be willing.

Geldof was able to convince Pink Floyd to reunite, so you never know...

I actually like the "Invisible Touch" Genesis better than the pure prog-rock, though. I was just a little tyke in the early 80's...

8. "Land of Confusion," anyone?
Edited on Fri Feb-16-07 06:22 PM by BullGooseLoony
I must've dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
They're moving into the street.

Now did you read the news today
They say the danger's gone away
But I can see the fire's still alight
There burning into the night.

There's too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can't you see
This is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in.

Ooh Superman where are you now
When everything's gone wrong somehow
The men of steel, the men of power
Are losing control by the hour.

This is the time
This is the place
So we look for the future
But there's not much love to go round
Tell me why, this is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in.

I remember long ago -
Ooh when the sun was shining
Yes and the stars were bright
All through the night
And the sound of your laughter
As I held you tight
So long ago -

I won't be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We're not just making promises
That we know, we'll never keep.

Too many men
There's too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can't you see
This is a land of confusion.

Now this is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for.

This is the world we live in
And these are the names we're given
Stand up and let's start showing
Just where our lives are going to.
--------------

My God- I can't even imagine what an awesome sight it will be to see Phil, Mike and Tony ripping it up with that one. Those drums....
