CASH Is hard to come by-but so is TRUTH: Help Larisa Alexandrovna Continue Her Investigative Work
November 17, 2007
Have you donated to the RS investigative team fund drive yet?

Hey folks, Raw Story is holding a fund drive for the investigative team, of which I am the managing editor. While the site itself is supported through advertising, the investigative team is ONLY supported by reader contributions. It was a stipulation of mine before I agreed to manage RSI that we only be funded by the readership, so that no one could ever tell us what we could or could not write or threaten to remove ad dollars if we ran a particular story. So have you yet contributed to my team? If not, go HERE http://rawstory.com/contact/raw_fundraiser_november_2007.htm and contribute whatever you can. If you cannot contribute funds, there are other ways you can help, which are listed on the link above. You can also donate supplies if you own an electronics business, office supply business, travel business, etc. We pay for all of our own research, travel, supplies, calling cards, equipment, etc. Yet with our limited resources we have managed to accomplish a great deal as our executive editor, John Byrne notes in his fund-raising letter:

"Last month, we wrote 382 news stories with a team of just three full time reporters. If we count our research director and our two video editors, that comes out to an average of 64 stories per person per month."

John also breaks down how donations make a difference:

$30.00 will cover a day’s cab expenses for Larisa in Washington.
$53.00 will cover a disposable cell phone for plus minutes.
$130 will cover a day’s hotel stay for Larisa in DC.
$300 will cover a plane ticket to fly Larisa to DC.
$400-500 will cover a major freelance investigative article such as Julie Weisberg's investigation into the anthrax vaccine.
$900 will cover the cost of Larisa’s entire DC trip.
$10,000 will pay for the final portion of our technical upgrades.

In addition, John writes:

"If you you'd like to sponsor Larisa personally, or our investigative team, write me at john(at)rawstory.com. I'd love to cut back the number of ads -- but for now, these ads are the only way we can afford a team of unafraid, hard-hitting reporters and video editors."

So please take a moment to help our investigative team and me do the work that we are doing. We can't do it without you.

2. Kick to try and keep this up till the 'morrow'
I just read Larisa's rebuttal to Dershowitz and it is a beaut! That rebuttal is worth a donation in itself, imo.
