New name for oil companies: Gasholes

Was thinking of this as I noticed how the Gasholes have again raised prices at the pump -- for no particular reason other than they can get away with it -- all around L.A.

L.A. is ripe for the picking, isn't she?

So many people, all living in an area where good public transportation is neglected in the march to more lanes, more vehicles, more gridlock.

Whether you are being gouged at the pump, or waiting in long lines during gas shortages (this ages me, doesn't it?) or rolling along slower than a walking pace on gridlocked freeways, the gasholes and the auto industry...what can you call them? They're still profiting.

19. I'm the only one I know who even takes the train -- the Metro Rail --

even occasionally. I have one regular commute during my irregular week that lends itself to Metro Rail, and I take it every time.

Of course, I also try to telecommute as much as possible.. ;-)

Still have way too big of a "Carbon footprint," though...

20. I think most of our "footprints" are too big.

Living rurally, there is no practical public transport. While I'm 13 miles from work, there are no stoplights, and just 4 stop signs, between my house and the parking lot there. Driving is more leisurely, and I get much better gas mileage than I did in CA. I do about 45 mph along quiet, mostly empty roads, along the borders of ranches large and small. I see cows, chickens, sheep, goats, horses, deer, pastures, hayfields, and juniper trees.

Not exactly L.A., lol.
