New Right wing talking point- Copernicus was wrong
.... the most powerful committee in the (Texas) House, distributed to legislators a memo (http://www.burntorangereport.com/upload/Chisum.pdf) pitching crazed wingers who believe the earth stands still -- doesn't spin on its axis or revolve around the Sun -- that Copernicus was part of a Jewish conspiracy to undermine the Old Testament. That would be the same Old Testament that was written by the folks Chisum's friends say are conspiring to undermine it.
http://www.burntorangereport.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=2916

from http://www.fixedearth.com/

Head on over to FixedEarth.com, and you'd swear this was a parody site.

Levitating Globe

"An electromagnet and computerized sensor hidden in its display stand cause the Earth to levitate motionlessly in the air."

Could God have engineered something like that for the real Earth?

The Bible and all real evidence confirms that this is precisely what He did, and indeed:

The Earth is not rotating...nor is it going around the sun.

The universe is not one ten trillionth the size we are told.

Today’s cosmology fulfills an anti-Bible religious plan disguised as "science".

The whole scheme from Copernicanism to Big Bangism is a factless lie.

Those lies have planted the Truth-killing virus of evolutionism

in every aspect of man’s "knowledge" about the Universe, the

Earth, and Himself.

Take your time.

Check it all out.

Decide for yourself.

2. WHY are these people running around without their keepers? and WHY are they being paid salaries to
be representatives of the people? they all rather remind me of a comment robert sakowitz (owner of sakowitz men's clothing in houston many years ago) made in an article about men's clothing. mind you, this was in the days of polyester leisure suits (for those of you too young to remember, DON'T ASK!!) in an article for some magazine in houston, his comment about the leisure suits was, "if clothing speaks for the man, who in the hell gave them permission to speak??"

that is pretty much the way I feel about these idiots-who in the HELL gave them permission to speak, let alone in a public arena???

7. This is a bit extreme
I guess the next step is to dispute any mathmatics text that claims that ratio of dircumference of any circle to its diameter is something other than an even 3. What's this heresy about an irrational number approximately equal to 3.14159?

9. The bible ref so people get this one
1 Kings 7:23 And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.

Doing the math we find

D=10
C=30

Pi=C/D

Pi=30/10

Pi=3.0

10. After years of talking to fundamentalists, I found the easiest way to
explain it is, okay, so God knows all and sees all. Fine. If true then what the hell are they complaining about? Obviously God meant for there to be evolution! No? Then God fucked up somehow? Obviously God is okay with the 'Truth-killing virus', because he sure doesn't seem to mind other viruses running around causing death and misery! Everything that happens, gets Gods rubberstamp - if not then how does it exist in time and space?

Watch for smoke! And tell them the Devil excuse is a cop-out, because God allowed it.

14. No, but they are the first in line for a PET scan or other
physics-related medical test when they need one and call it a miracle when they are cured. No credit to science, research, etc.

Never mind that the real miracle is that American kids get to to study real science at all after its destruction by right wing leaders.

15. I don't think any kids study science anymore. Nobody asks
about what it took for me to become a veterinarian anymore. Most of my clients have no idea what the difference is between prevention and treatment.

I'm quite serious.

I don't know who is going to be the next generation of doctors and dentists and veterinarians and SCIENTISTS. Everybody just wants a job where they can sit and type on a computer all day and not DO anything.

19. Actually, I know some really great "kids" that don't fit that
mold. One just received a huge scholarship to study for her PhD in southern CA in biochemistry and something else related to that. She loves going to college. Loves learning.

Another jsut graduated from UT pharmacy school.

But yeah, way too many want easy jobs with big money, no risks, etc.

27. My niece and nephew in WI are both eager, apt learners and seekers.
But the youth here in SoCal, I am afraid most are wastrels....................either they lack much education and don't know anything about the world (with internet access universally available, I don't get this at all), or they are pampered, spoiled rich kids who couldn't earn an honest buck from the sweat of their brow (or the use of their intellect) if their lives depended on it.

Watching TV, playing video games, shopping, and driving too fast with stereos blaring are the predominant skills here.

13. And these folk will whine that their kids were
discriminated against as the tried to get a spot in a science major because they didn't answer the tests with all of these "anti-Christian lies" which refute laws of physics, etc.

Then they'll just say, oh well, We really didn't want them to be doctors. We'll just turn them into church music directors and evangelists.

16. Nah. They will learn just enough science to get into a third-rate
medical school and then become the sort of doctor that would DENY A CHILD TREATMENT for an ear infection because the parent has a tattoo.
Like that "christian" doctor in Bakersfield, CA that made the news yesterday.

17. Ugh. I can't stand those kinds of practitioners. I'm glad
I missed that story.

We have one here that argues with her patients that are in labor, and tries not to ever order any anesthesia for them if they are on Medicaid.

Parody sites are always nice looking, well-designed sites. Landover, for instance. The true wacko ones look crappy. This one looks crappy.
