It's a wonder to me that Billo doesn't attack Olbermann more? Does he just think that Olbermann will disappear if he ignores him?

7. Welcome to DU!
billo can't even begin to touch the hem of Keith Olbermann's garment. Nor is he even halfway worthy to do so.

Glad you're here! You have excellent taste!

20. Billo has been KO'd by Olbermann.
Keith has done in a few short months what Democratic Party pols have not been able to do in years--make a RW hitman cower. Now he's working on Hannity too. He's been slapping Limbaugh around as well. He's stood up to their bullyboy tactics and hit them back with truth.

18. Two different things, really - and I love them both
Jon's Comedy Central - there's no way around it. Keith is news. I don't think The Daily Show taps into even a quarter of Jon's potential. He's sadly more of a performer, with other people doing the writing, although he was the one who made the show more political and topical. Even Colbert has more input into his own show than Jon has on the Daily Show, I think.

I expect to see Jon Stewart hosting one of the hour long night time staples sometime in the future, and maybe then his full potential will be realized. Not to take anything away from Keith, who I think is wonderful, but I think Jon Stewart would be pretty formidable, too, with the same type of platform - if in fact, that's something he wants to do.

21. For me the problem with The Daily Show is...
...that they try to parody the news when the news itself is parody. Keith understands this and lets the news be ridiculous on its own.

38. I don't have a problem with it....actually I love it
yes, the news is parody, but unfortunately, many people don't know that. TDS and Colbert, IMO have been directly responsible for making people aware. Their audience is for the most part young, and I think what they do can't be underestimated.

I've seen it in my own daughter. She was quite apolitical, recently went to a Daily Show taping, and came out of it far more interested than when she went in. I've made efforts over the years to get her interested, but she really didn't want to hear it. Since that night, she has been far more up on what the administration is doing, and far more interested.

She now watches the show every night, and actually knows what they're talking about. It's a minor miracle, really. Maybe in a year or two she'll be ready for Keith (who her boyfriend already watches religiously), and maybe, it will be because of TDS.

10. In a bizzare way, he reminds me of my father
who looked like a cross between Keith and Raymond Burr. I still ever night while I watch. Men with looks and brains and a sense of humor just do that to me.

Should I begin therapy or just keep enjoying? ;)

14. True. His audience does get it.
However, I find it extremely unfortunate that he is dummied down with segments of his show that I have to assume the producers feel make it more marketable. I feel the cringe when videos depicting stupidity (often times involving physical harm to a human or animal) are showcased as funny.

That said, KO, Colbert, Stewart, and Moyers are invaluable resources for our large community.

15. I like the "Oddball" segment.
He keeps it short. Did you see the one the other night when this reporter was talking to a guy shoveling snow outside and out of nowhere comes this burly naked guy prancing around talking about it's cold out here! It was hilarious! They kept talking but every few seconds the guy would jump up and down in front of the cameraman. I cracked up. Another one is the woman at some city hall meeting that just finished talking at the podium, then walked back to her seat..as she passed by another woman sitting, she hit her in the back of the head with some papers (it was a light hit) and the sitting woman was shocked, got up and made herself fall on the floor moaning and groaning for the officer to help her up. Another hilarious clip.

42. I have been a zealous fan of KO for a couple of years.
Its the only show I make a point to watch. My wife tapes it for me if I am not going to be home by 7. His "special comment" segments last fall were brilliant. Jack Murtha and Keith Olbermann deserve tons of credit for our dem majorities. More than anything else they got the message out that "its ok to disagree" with bushco. People being herd animals, a whole, whole lot of the votes we got came from people who jumped on the bandwagon. There might not have been a bandwagon, of fewer would have been aware of it, were it not for the very few voices in the wilderness in the face of the overwhelming domination of the media as WH mouthpieces. KO not only speaks the truth, he calls out the media who don't.

Now, however, having read this thread and learned that he is gorgeous, a hunk, and all the other breathless appellations bestowed upon him by the DU'ers of the female persuasion, I must ask myself, am I gay? Is that what its all about? Do I actually have a crush on him and just THINK he is the second coming of Edward R. Murrow, but funny? No, probably not. I didn't even notice what he was wearing tonight.

Kieth, Jon and Colbert. THE Best shows on TV.
Next in line is adult Swim, Heroes, Dresden Files and Family guy.Otherwise TV just sucks. If thundercats was still on that would be put before adult swim. It's a cat thing.
