TENERIFE, Canary Islands - A fast-thinking pilot with passengers in cahoots fooled a gunman who had hijacked a jetliner flying from Africa to the Canary Islands, braking hard upon landing then quickly accelerating to knock the man down so travelers could pounce on him, Spanish officials said Friday.

and yeah, it sounds like cowboy-style crap. But in another article that I read, the hijacker did not speak French, whereas most of the passengers did, so the pilot made an announcement- in French to warn the passengers.

If he had done something reckless in the air, that's one thing, but at least he waited until the wheels were on the ground. Good move. I wish Karlschnider would drop in for an opinion.
