*Alert!* Chalmers Johnson on BookTV Sunday at 3 PM ET
Johnson is less well known than some other commentators but his previous works, Blowback and Sorrows of Empire are nonpariel in revealing the overall course of American imperialism. Intellectually he is in a rare group, with the likes of Chomsky and Zinn, in taking an objective view of America in history.

I'm posting this because I have heard him before, and found myself feeling smarter every time he opened his mouth. His appearances are all too rare, and present a unique perspective on our place in history.

His new book is Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic. Haven't read it yet, but it's on my list.

“Last fall a treasonous Congress gave the president license to kidnap, torture—you name it—on an imperial scale. All of us, citizens and non-citizens alike, are fair game. Kudos for not being silent, Chalmers, and for completing your revealing trilogy with undaunted courage.”—Ray McGovern, former CIA analyst; co-founder of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS)

8. Here's a link to an interview with him a couple weeks ago:
On Live from the Left Coast with Ian Masters:

Scroll down to Feb. 4 show. And check out the other shows. If you don't know who Ian Masters is he does really great in depth interviews with very knowledgeable people.

His other show, Background Briefing is listed on the main page at

9. Ah, thank you. (And a kick on the side.)
Johnson is a great speaker on American foreign policy. And all too rarely heard from.
