war, famine, plague and pestilence
I'd say king george just about has it wrapped up, if only bird flu will come through for him.

what's the difference between plague and pestilence anyway?

3. hes right plague is a disease and pestilence
would be like the invasion of grasshoppers/locusts that eat farmers fields from time to time. Plague is of course Bubonic Plague or the Black Death. Actually been a couple cases in the last few years but its pretty treatable with antibiotics now. Comes from fleas off rats. Come to think of it I can't believe there hasn't been an outbreak in DC because of all the "fleas" and "rats"!!:rofl:

5. NM is a plague state
and pets generally carry the fleas to their owners. We see one or two cases a year, but deaths are rare. It is treatable with cheap antibiotics if caught early.

6. CA is a plague state, too. It's an occupational hazard for us vets.
Some vet died of pneumonic plague a couple decades ago here - some kid brought in his sick pet ground squirrel and it spread to the vet and killed him.

I treat captive-bred pet rodents, but refuse to see wild ones BECAUSE OF THIS.

4. plagues were unseen germ related while pestilence were had to do with
...seen vermin like rats, locust, poison frogs, etc
