Murdoch, Trump missing from list of most prominent donors to charity
Media Bistro, "Fishbowl NY":

The list of America's 60 most generous donors is out, and (New Yorkers) Mayor Bloomberg and media magnate Mort Zuckerman have made the top 20, pledging $165 million and $100 million to charity in 2006, respectively. Warren Buffett tops the list with his $43.5 billion 2006 pledge.

Curiously missing from the list are several prominent — and rich — New Yorkers (or people with NY ties): Zuckerman nemesis Rupert Murdoch, Ralph Lauren and Donald Trump.

Some selected list-makers with New York ties:

9. Michael R. Bloomberg | Media and entertainment | $165 million
18. Mortimer B. Zuckerman | Media and entertainment, real estate | $100 million
30. Ronald O. Perelman | Finance, investments | $60.8 million
35. Oprah Winfrey | Media and entertainment | $58.3 million
38. H. F. (Gerry) and Marguerite B. Lenfest | Media and entertainment | $55.7 million

1. One time on The Apprentice the
"reward" for the winning team was to take a homeless man to a clothing store and let him pick out some business duds for interviews. That's about as charitable as Trump gets. And the final task is sometimes organizing a charity event - of course with lots of corporate ties and product placement.

Don't think the guy has a charitable bone in his arrogant, pompous body.

3. I heard from someone who works in television that the charitible aspect of "Apprentice"...
was most likely the idea of the show's producer, not Trump himself.

4. Trump has filed for bankruptcy how many times now?
Murdoch has never filed for bankruptcy, to my knowledge, however.

6. I remember Ivanka telling a story about her father
She was a child, and he was in bankruptcy, a billion dollars in debt or something. And she pointed to a homeless man on the street, and asked her father about him and he said something like, "Don't worry about him, I have a billion dollars less than he has."

I don't know if the story was supposed to be heartwarming or accusatory. I thought it was very telling.

7. Watch Fox news (please don't) and tell me if a fascist like Murdoch cares about the less fortunate!
Not in the slightest, tiniest way....It's all about greed with these lying neoconservatives.

9. Ted Turner gave one billion to the UN but not sure that counts as charity
When Republican Congress withheld US dues for UN Ted Turner decided to pay instead and promised a hundred million a year for ten years. I'm not sure if that will make the list or not though..
