1. Is this from the professor who John Dean'swork drew upon
in his recent book? I believe that was a Canadian professor. That is one book I passed on to many.

Btw - how are you doing these days?

3. Yes it is.
I am fine, but incredibly busy. Studying for MCSA certification tests through Rutgers Online Education.

And running this, with Tad Goodwin: http://worldnewstrust.com

I'm the geek in that relationship. ;-)

6. Well, all the credit should go...
To Tad. His editorial skills and ability to form the site are the key. I am just, as I said, da' geek. Nuts and bolts.

9. Give me a break

Right, communists are "psychological right-wingers", since Lenin and Trotsky were raging reactionaries. :eyes:

That's possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. What next, guys? Did Lenin eat kids, too? Get a grip and look at history, or at least learn what you're spouting about. The vanguard party is the politically advanced portion of the working classes, kind of like activists in the Democratic Party compared to normal Democratic voters.

Another thing. The political spectrum does not revolve around liberal misconceptions, as the author asserts. To say that authoritarianism equals an inherently "right wing" characteristic is just wrong. Acknowledging the fact that victory in revolution takes LEADERSHIP and DISCIPLINE is just being realistic.

Oh, and just because we may be sectarian from time to time means what? The arguments between different factions on the left (Leninism, Maoism, Trotskyism, different types of Anarchism) are no more virulent and divisive than some of the arguments between supporters of Kerry, Clinton and other Democratic politicians that I've seen ON THIS VERY SITE.

Those points were pure garbage.

10. And by the way
the author says that the people of Russia "made it clear how evil they thought Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist dictatorships were".

First of all, "Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist" is something he COMPLETELY made up, it's not a real term. Secondly, Russia has gone to hell and back after the fall of the USSR. Their society was far better during the Soviet Union, that much is clear.

12. From what I have read Dr Bob's analysis of the authoritarian follower is spot on.
I've read the first five chapters and am about to go and read the sixth which got posted last night.

IMO, it's an important and most illuminating view into a personality type which most liberals have an extremely difficult time understanding.

Dr Bob gives a reasonable and rational explanation for why arguing with some right wingers is like arguing with a Turing machine that is programmed with only one set of responses. The strong authoritarian follower is virtually impervious to facts and logic due in large measure to their ability to compartmentalize various beliefs without ever examining their relationship with each other.

AFs seem irrational to liberals because they largely lack rational thought processes when it comes to certain subjects like religion or politics.

As far as I'm concerned it's a must read for any liberal who wants to understand their opposition.
