The escalation will ensure that the war will run through the end of his term. Unless, he wants to be king for a few more years. Then he'll launch a war in Iran after they are tied to a terror attack here or a nuke attack in Israel. The unrest that will follow his "limited tactical nuclear strike" will lead him to declare martial law and suspend the next few elections for "the good of the country"
