Conyers Demands More Answers on Corruption Fighting Attorney Dismissals
http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/washington/washington/entries/2007/02/15/conyers_demands.html

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers is demanding more answers from the Justice Department about the dismissal of a high profile federal prosecutor responsible for the corruption investigation of a prominent Republican congressman. snip

At least six other U.S. attorneys have been forced out across the country, said Conyers, who held a hearing on the issue last week. Two other attorneys were in the middle of public corruption probes like Lam.

Gonzales has defended the dismissals, saying that the attorneys in question had served their time. He vehemently denied that anyone was dismissed for political reasons.

But Conyers wants Gonzales to keep Lam on until she finishes her investigation. And he wants more answers about why other attorneys were replaced by political friends of the White House.

5. You got it, Sam.
Bush fires attorney generals who uncover crimes.

Then again, what can we expect from an "administration" that considers the Geneva Conventions "quaint"?
