Take me out to the Ballgame
Edited on Thu Dec-13-07 10:14 AM by NightWatcher
ESPN is reporting that up to 80 players will be named in the Mitchell Report on Steroid usage within the MLB, which will be released at 2PM EST. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3152573

Among those names starting to leak out Roger Clemens. Other "Prominent Yankees" are reported to be on the list.

Stay tuned for updates.

26. Really, Sherlock? ESPN talks about sports? Golly.
I watched a report on ESPN this morning. Nothing was mentioned of the process of gathering information. Not a word.

They did mention that the report is 400 pages long and hundreds of interviewers.

If you have information that you can stand behind, I'd love to see it.

47. But not everyone who thinks Bonds is guilty of steroid use cheered others who used them.
When Canseco played in Boston me and my friends railed on him mercilessly. One of roommate used steroids at the time, so it was something we saw firsthand. We knew Jose was juiced and we complained it about way back then. If today's report comes back and Ortiz' name is on it I'll say can his ass. How's that for a wink and a nod?

I was harder on McGuire than I've ever been on Bonds. You seem to want to reduce this to the World vs. Barry Bonds, but there are a lot of fans out there who have been consistent in their complaints about the use of steroids all along. It doesn't matter to me who uses them, they are ALL wrong. The reason Bonds is getting the attention the most is because he's the game's marquee player, the biggest name in the game, like the frontrunner in a campaign taking the most heat. It's not the person, it's the position they're in. McGuire managed to duck out of the game just in time to avoid the real heat or I suspect you'd see the same feelings towards him that you see now towards Bonds. Bonds is still in the game and he broke one of the biggest records in sports. People want to feel that was done honestly, and whether you like it or not there is a question about Bonds and steroids, and I think fans of the game deserve to know the truth, whether it's innocent or guilty.

So for a lot of us there's been no hypocrisy at all, and if Bonds is found guilty will you then show the same consistency or become what you're complaining about here?

Edited on Thu Dec-13-07 10:41 AM by Buzz Clik
They come despite its wide use. Bonds is despised in every city but San Francisco.

It's pretty funny that you're somehow defending steroid/hormone use considering it breaks federal laws, it's against the rules of baseball, and it, quite frankly, it's cheating. It's hard to consider any player guilty of all this as anything but shit.

You declared that my attendance in past three decades would indicate a support of steroid use. And, I have been to many baseball parks in the past 30 years. However, I have not been to a single game since Bonds, McGwire, et al were singled out. Not one.

Where's my support now, Ace?

Face it. You're in this alone, and you're looking pretty sleazy.

46. Your right people don't care
Steroids is something to complain about, not something that stops people from watching and spending on the sport. Frankly the fact they focused on baseball is a little annoying when you consider that football very likely has a higher rate of abuse. Who ever talks about all the Raiders caught on the Balco list. All you hear about is Barry Bonds.

13. from the report....
"lawyers told ESPN that the report assigns blame for the rise of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball "from top to bottom," and recommends that MLB and the union agree to outsource their drug testing program to an independent agency."

It IS prevalent from the top to the bottom and unless the union and the owners decide to fix the entire system, it will continue to be broken. People just like watching the homeruns fly out of the park and 95mph fastballs too much to change.

If you arent going to fix it, embrace it. I want to see 700 foot homeruns and a 150mph fastball.....

It's only natural for feet to grow three shoe sizes after the age of 35. Or your head to expand several sizes.

You're just jealous of him because he has the disposition of a caged bear and a personality normally associated with people like Ted Kaczynski.

they are PROFESSIONAL athletes, not Olympians. if their careers depend on doping, so be it. they aren't hurting anyone but themselves. i'd be much happier if the same attention was paid to the fashion industry and its continued exploitation of young women in the world of modeling and how their health is threatened by pressure to stay unhealthily slim. assorted diet drugs and eating disorders are a plague in that high pressure industry.
