Dear Freepers: I know you hate the Washington Post and
Dana Priest. That's clearly not up for debate. What is up for debate is whether you hate Ms. Priest and the Post more than you love the wounded soldiers at Walter Reed. Sadly, judging from your posts on the threads regarding the Post article about conditions at Building 18, the answer is yes: Your hate is dearer to you than the welfare of the soldiers.

Your may not be liberal with much, but you're liberal with your accusations that those who don't support the war don't support the troops. You've just demonstrated that YOU are the ones who couldn't give a damn about the troops.

As usual, you outdo yourself. Disgusting is far too mild a word.

1. That is a sad state of affairs, but none the less I am
not surprised at their indifference... It has always been about the Republikans and not the people, and certainly not the soldiers..

3. Sums it up perfectly
They're too busy refusing to believe it to actually check it out for themselves.

And hey, the one down the road has a shiny paintjob, so they must all be good

5. What really got me was
that someone posted the article about the gov't responding to the Post article and commencing work on the facilities and inquiries into care, and there was not one single post to it.

4. .
Apparently, they care as much about the well-being of the soldiers who returned home as they care about the well-being of babies as soon as they are born.

7. And Jonah Goldberg ...
<snip>

Within the past few days, Priest (along with Post reporter Anne Hull) has published two separate, amply documented articles detailing the wretched conditions which the Bush administration has imposed on U.S. troops who are wounded in battle. Priest's articles powerfully demonstrate that those who exploit troops as a prop to shield themselves from criticism and justify a whole array of extremist policies could not, in fact, care any less for the welfare of the troops whom they exploit.

Today, in National Review's The Corner, Jonah Goldberg referenced the two Priest articles and said this:

I don't trust Dana Priest that much, and I am suspicious of some of possible motives behind the series, so with those caveats in mind, I still think the Post's series (See here and here) on what some of our wounded troops go through is must-reading. Hospitals for vets returning from the front should be palaces and the last thing in the world any of them deserve are bureaucratic hassles. Though I should say that I've visited wounded troops and from my very limited experience they are surrounded by people who really do care.

So Jonah thinks that Dana Priest is an unreliable source, does not "trust" her, and is "suspicious" of her motives. So what does he propose instead in order to get to the bottom of this, to find the real truth here? This:

Still, here's an idea for Fox News. Take Geraldo Rivera off the Anna Nicole beat and put him full time on this one. I'm not exactly a huge fan of Rivera's but he launched his career exposing the scandalous condition of mental hospitals if I recall, and he has just the right amount of preening self-righteousness (see Hurrican (sic) Katrina) to scare the bejeebers (sic) out of the relevant bureaucrats and politicians.

That pretty much sums up what has happened to our country for the last six years. Evidence and information which reflects poorly on the Leader is suspect because it comes from the likes of Dana Priest, and things cannot be believed until Fox News' Geraldo Rivera -- currently on "the Anna Nicole beat" -- is able to look into things and tell us the real story.

12. please, take Geraldo off the Anna Nicole case?
I mean, Fox News has their priorities - and tits & ass (even if it's dead T&A) gets top billing over the atrocious conditions our wounded soldiers have to endure.

13. "Take Geraldo off the Anna Nicole beat..." I love that. And yesterday
Tweety sarcastically jumped on one of his guests for mentioning her name on his show, he said for the first time since her death. Tweety was all over this business about media paying more attention to her death than the war and what the troops are going through. That was also a comment for an active duty Army Capt on the show who said the soldiers appreciate debate about the war, but don't appreciate why this dead woman gets more attention than their predicament. (paraphrased)

8. Some of the posters over there are more concerned that the
Post mentioned the anti-war protesters and didn't say anything about the freepers counter protesters. They must have gotten their feelings hurt.

10. Dear Freeper

11. Their posts give them away.
"Thank You for your service." is about as far as their support for the troops and the vets goes. It's easy and it doesn't cost them a dime. The minute their beloved Bush is threatened in any way by the truth coming out they go on the attack and the fighting men and women be damned. So it just goes to show you it's all about that all important (R) to them.
