From a 15 year old Iraqi blogger
Just a reminder that real people are involved in Bush's little venture into neo-colonialism and "spreading democracy" like this young girl who shouldn't be undergoing the results of our politics.

Earlier in the day's entry she tells of the problems encountered when trying to get medical help for her grandfather after a heart attack. Her family is obviously wealthy, (or, at least, well off) and I can't help but wonder how the less fortunate are faring under the circumstances.

http://livesstrong.blogspot.com/

The situation here is not good at all ,we didn't have electricity , and the torch didn't work , I studied near the window , before sun set , although I know it is dangerous , .once a tank behind my house was attacked , the soldiers started to shoot it was really scary , when you see the bullets comes out from the tank . it was about 30 meters away from the house, such a fight happen almost everyday I run out of my room , to avoid the bullets .

My best friend will leave Iraq , soon , they were threatened by terrorists three times , the last phone call was directed to her , I miss her already , we call each other every single day , at least twice, and sit in the same desk , we study together in school , no one understands me well but her, she is a genius, I don't want her to leave , I want to see her everyday , and talk to her everyday, and listen to her dreams , she is the best , and our friendship is very precious, it is a true friendship. My other best friend O left Iraq , F , and Y will leave too , I am worried about S , because she is Shiite. D my Kurdish friend went to Dhook few weeks ago , as well as 6 girls in my class. I don't know who will be the next one to leave ?

I feel stressed all the time , and there is so much anger inside me that will explode one day, I am so nervous all the time , and silly things makes me loose my mind , I really want to be relax but I don't know how, sometimes when I get angry my hands start to shake, as well as the night bruxism , and the tension headache, I have to be relax , I shouldn't be weak like that.

My plans for the holiday are many , I want to read my 500 E-mails , but I don't have good services , so I will postpone answering your questions this time , ok? , sorry , I don't have electricity , nor services often.

Live strong ,
Sunshine.

2. I've been keeping track for about a year.
It's tragic to see what has happened to her and her family and friends.

7. Hard to read
and harder to think about. An obviously very intelligent young girl who is having her youth stolen from her. Bush is oblivious to the horror.

4. K & R
I don't have the words for how I feel when I read these bloggers, nor the tension that I feel when Riverbend hasn't posted anything for a few weeks. I hope that Bush** and the republiCONS are happy with the misery they've caused in Iraq and here.

5. I too have followed this blog for a while now. I'm surprised they are still there.
Another noteable Iraqi blog is gorrilasguides

http://gorillasguides.com /

Warning: Their reality is very gritty and graffic. But I believe this one post, linked to below, shows so clearly why we will never win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people and we will never "win" the war in Iraq and we need to leave.......now.

This post from that sight really grabbed me and is a real eye opener to what it is really like in Bagdad:

9. Yes, thank you.
This is the correct link:

It will take many generations to even start to heal this kind of trauma. :(

11. Reading this seriously challenges the assumption that Iraq is "better off"
Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 10:50 PM by file83
now that Saddam is out of power. How much worse could life be in Iraq had we never invaded?

And what of the assertion that the "world" is better off with this current situation as opposed to the way things were?

As bad as Saddam was, he wasn't worse than this current situation the world finds itself in: Iraq is now "on the job training" for terrorists.
